Galaxy map

How do you do to use galaxy map? I cant barely select nothing on it and is imposible to do nothing? Is it any posibility to watch it on my monitor

I have bind the navigation keys to my X55 HOTAS, that way I can move/rotate the galaxy map the way I want to and jump between the UI panels.
I can write the system name without taking the DK2 off.

I know, it's painful to use with rift. Definitelly worst single thing with vr-mode. But with cursor using wasd (default) and enter you can select your preferred system, then using mouse you can select route plotting etc. Don't try to select systems with mouse, does not work very well...

yeah, don't even try using the mouse its painful.

its a case of remapping the pitch yaw, roll zoom and lateral up/down to something that makes sense for you(it'll depend on your setup and will take a few attempts but you can get something usable). if you have a pov hat switch, then i find that works quite well for moving forwards/backwards/sideways. you'll also need to map buttons to move between the ui panels.

i've got mine mapped in a combination of the trustmaster HOTAS and the G25 peddals/buttons

this is mine

the throttle forward/back is the map tilt,
the pedals and lateral up/down
the rocker on the throttle is zoom in/out
the stick twist is rotate
the pov hat on the wheel shifter box moves the map cursor
the buttons on the back of the throttle toggle between the system ui menus
the pov hat on the stick moves witihn the selected ui menu

i find it works really well on my X55

on stick forward backwards strafe left and right
on twist axis spin L / R

on throttle, top spinning axis, bank up and down.
bottom spinning axis strafe up and down

and then the sliver axis on the left of the throttle to zoom in and out (i think...... i am not 100% on this one without being in front of me)

CH HOTAS:

Pan map X/Y on mini stick
Map Z (up/down) on throttle front 4-way switch up/down

Map Yaw/Pitch on main stick
Map Zoom on main stick POV hat up/down.

UI keys as in cockpit.

I've been using this for (ulp) 18 months at this point and I've become very comfortable with it.

I have everything mapped to my X52 pro, only have to use the keyboard to enter system names.
I find the setup now so easy to use and feels so natural, that I cannot remember how things are mapped to the X52.... :(

It did feel so strange to start with, but soon got used to it.

Hope you find a setup that works for you.

And in case you aren't using a stick and throttle...

Use wasd to move the blue target around and the mouse the rotate the view. Then, hold down Z to zoom in and target the system in the blue circle.

In the oculus its especially hard since you have to have what you want to target in the center of your view. BUT if you use Z to target the system in the blue circle it will only bring that systems info up. Doesn't matter where you mouse or head are.
