What's this all about? Thanks.

People have been blown up for less :D

Indeed. I once accidentally killed someone by just barely scraping past their shield as I boosted out of the station. Only got a 10k bounty. I don't even know what you'd have to do to get fined nearly a mil. Probably trespassing, knowing this game!

I'd also like to know exactly what you did to earn that fine??? Respect! I'd never seen a fine that large, and trust me, I've had a few.

Normally you get fines and bounties when you do something "illegal", like killing innocents, loitering, hauling illegal stuff etc.

As others say, earn some credits and pay it at an interstellar factor. You can fly with a bounty and get away with it, even being notorious, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I've killed nobody or anything that I know of, however, I have abandoned quite a number of missions. Could be up to 5 or 6. Plus I have suicided a number of times (when about to run out of fuel) also in the process of undertaking a mission. I rather like that. Shows the seriousness one must take the Sim as one does about life.
The Fuel Rats reference came from another indicator. Maybe because I was suiciding because of lack of fuel rather than calling them .......
However, I think I'm being heavily fine for abandoning missions that is the problem. I just didn't realize how unfavorably it was seen. :(
Thanks

It's been mentioned before, but Interstellar Factors are your answer. They'll let you pay off your fines for a slight markup, and you'll be clean as a whistle again. Easiest way to find one is to go to Inara.cz, (which you should bookmark right away :)), click Galaxy at the top, then Systems and Stations on the left, Nearest under that, then select Interstellar Factors at the top and Search.
I assume you mean (when you say "click Galaxy at the top") you are doing that when at Inara.cz?
I did a search for Inara.cz on the Galaxy Map but nothing showed up ...... I'm currently at Coeho Stn in Matet.

Well ...... with R2R I firstly need a Detailed Surface Scanner (I have the fuel scoop). I have 3 other scanners: Data Link, Composition & Discovery but not a Detailed Surface Scanner. :( I've checked at the station I'm at now (Coeho Stn) but there's not one here to buy. How do I find where to buy one? Thanks.

Don't bother. I need a better ship first (been watching U-Tube clips), but I need credit to buy a better ship and I need to R2R to get credit which I need to get a better ship .......
ITS ALL CRAP!!!
I'm going back to doing Courier Runs. It's easy and manageable in my basic ship. ;) Thanks anyway. (y)

However, paying off my fine still interests me ........ ;)

You can not buy a detailed surface scanner in any of the newcomer's zone stations. So you either do R2R without it (not recommended) or get out of the noob-zone and start really playing the game. ;)
