Gallifrey - Please

The title really says it all. But please allow me to Elaborate:

Leonard Nimoy. Terry Pratchett. Two figures of immense importance in Science Fiction. And heck, there's even a George Lucas station in Leesti. Been there myself.

So, how about a Planet, or Star, named Gallifrey? Perhaps somewhere distant. Or special. I mean, we've seen tributes to sci-fi in Elite. So why not a tribute to the home planet of one of sci-fi's most enduring characters? Dr. Who is, lets face it, pretty significant in the world of science fiction entertainment.

Nice sentiment, but there would probably be copyright issues with it.

Yeah, good point. Didnt even think about that. Darn it.

I completely support Copyright laws - probably far more than most folks, as I know it helps protect and incentivize the creation of Art, something we all treasure - but every now and then, Copyright/Trademark laws find themselves in a position wherein they are nothing but a barrier to fun.

Ahh well...its a nice thought.

A great idea but it probably got mentioned back in Alpha as well and as el_tel says, those copyright lawyers from the Beeb might have a word or two to say sadly :(

It'd have the problem of a million and one different people having different ideas of how the Gallifrey system looks as well, on top of copyright laws.

That would be a nice touch, but copyright laws aside, the bigger reality is that Gallifrey no longer exists in our time and space so could not or should not ever be depicted.

I assume you never watched 'The Day of The Doctor'? :D

Edit - sorry, you're correct. It wasn't destroyed, but ended up hidden in time, or some other such guff.
