GalMap Commodity view - what am I missing? Where is my misunderstanding?

Was looking for some Narcotics for a mission. Before accepting I checked the commodity view on the GalMap and indeed, there were green arrows close by. So I went to such a station and: Nothing! see second attachment CD-79 950-Alex Prior High (20190203-182343).jpg

So, sitting at the station, just having checked the Commodity List, I open GalMap again and it still shows me that the station where I'm docked is selling that stuff, see first attachment CD-79 950-Alex Prior High (20190203-182408).jpg

What am I doing wrong? What am I missing?

It's never really worked as long as I can remember. In all honesty, and it pains me, you're best off using a third party search tool such as https://eddb.io/trade/commodity

The same thing happens in descriptions - it will say a commodity is imported from a place, go to that place, no such thing for sale.

Such a shame. It's nice to be able to look that information up in-game. If only it would work :-(
I think I will log some more bug reports ...

Thanks for posting.
I had suspicions that the galmap wasn't quite accurate and possibly lagged or is bugged.
Try the Inara site instead.
Its easier to use if you have a second monitor.

The GalMap can't recognize changes in the law.
If a minor faction takes over the system and prohibits narcotics, than they would be there if they weren't illegal.

The same you can see when jumping. If you have for example tabacco in your cargohold and jump to a system where the original ruling faction was forbidding tobacco, than you get the "illegal cargo" warning when starting the jump.
Once you arrive there, your tobacco isn't illegal because the ruling faction has changed long ago.

This problem, that the galmap can't combine jurisdiction and cargo correctly is present since 2.0 i think. Maybe even longer.
