Hello everyone,
I've been taking a break from the game for a while, hmm...seems like 8 or 9 months now!
I happened to catch one of Obsidian Ant's videos recently about something being found in the Formidine Rift (congratulations Jackie, that's quite an exciting find!) and that got my little grey cells churning again with plot lines, scenarios, character motivations...etc, and after a few days I found myself having fun again and wanting to act out some of the stories in-game that were playing out in my head.
I re-installed the game, and for RP reasons loaded up my alt account first to set the stage before the event on April 29th. I tinkered around with the HOTAS settings for a while in deep space to make sure I didn't faceplant the first star I jumped to. Then I opened the GalMap to find out where I was, after a few seconds looking around I felt a shiver run up my spine and goose bumps on my arms as I realized that the very first thought that entered my mind when I first heard the ambient "music" in GalMap was..."HOME".
After you've spent 1000's of hours playing a game and interacting with other players either in-game or on a forum, it starts to become a part of your life, whether you intend it to or not. I don't know how long I'll be around this time before needing to fade into the background again. I normally only play one game at a time so I can give it my full attention, and a side effect of that is that it can lead to burnout, so as I'm playing I'll occasionally ask myself "am I having fun?", and If the answer is "no, not really", then I'll put a game aside for a while.
In the mean time while I'm here I'll try and make myself useful and be helpful where I can. It's nice to see some familiar names still on the forum, and there's quite a lot of new regulars in our little exploration sub-forum I see.
See you in the black.
Reido, (CMDR Andrew Reid)
