TAURUS MINING VENTURES OPERATION CONCLUDES

07 APR 3308
Pilots’ Federation ALERT
A corporate initiative to mine and deliver ores to the Synuefe CE-R c21-6 system has ended successfully.
Taurus Mining Ventures had performed scientific research within the system, claiming that the properties of some natural substances had been altered by an unknown type of local radiation.
The company’s head of research Dr Ruben Carpenter announced:
“We now have sufficiently large quantities of coltan, lithium hydroxide and methanol monohydrate crystals mined from locations in Synuefe CE-R c21-6. These irradiated ores will be analysed to determine their potential commercial value. Samples that were provided from other systems will also be very useful in our comparative studies.”
“To all the pilots who assisted in this endeavour: thank you! Your hard work is greatly appreciated. The Heart of Taurus megaship will remain in Synuefe CE-R c21-6 for several weeks, and you may collect your rewards from there.”
Taurus Mining Ventures confirmed that studies to identify the source, effects and application of the local radiation are continuing. The scientific journal The Empirical has reiterated that these ‘atypical radioactive signatures’ have not been independently verified.

Operation smokescreen completed successfully.
Aka the guy who calibrates the sensor is about to get fired very hard and very permanently...

I think the mining operation was just a decoy to distract the Witch and Azimuth from Musashi's deployment and the real reason for the entire OP: collecting Guardian artefacts for probably another round of "Smack the Goid real hard".

After Azimuth sabotaged the Alexandria and slaughtered her crew to get their grubby little fingers at her cargo of Guardian artefacts, I think Salvation did not want to take any chances with Musashi. Hence the pretence of a mining op, while in reality it was all about collecting the Guardian artefacts to charge Salvation's superweapon once again.

It's a bit of a shame, because I thought the idea of "radiated ore" (aka new stuff to mine) was quite exciting.

I think Salvation is linked to Azimuth. And so, responsible for the Alexandria.
However, he doesn't want people to know he has large quantities of guardian artifacts, again. Those might find their way in some innocent station or something, and it will find itself in need of saving from the vile Thargoids (thankfully, Salvation will be there).
You know, like last time.

Salvation may very well be ex-Azimuth, but his goals (annihilation of the Thargoid) is the polar opposite of what we know of the Witch at the moment (using/exploiting the Thargoid)

Azimuth don't want to be friend of the Thargoid either. They want to use them for technology. And Salvation doesn't seem really different.

I'm not saying they want to befriend them, just that they want to use them and/or their technology for their own interests. Salvation wants to exterminate them.

As far as I can see it at the moment:
Salvation is the "Guardian guy" who uses Guardian technology to fight the Thargoid
The Witch is the "Thargoid guy" who wants to use Thargoid technology for an (as of now) unknown goal

You are giving too much credit to Salvation. He doesn't seem to care much about thargoid, it's just a mean to an end.

What could possibly go wrong with some random dude who doesn't want to give his identity, building a super weapon in secret ? Someone who seem to always be at the right place at the right time, when guardian artifacts are later found in the attacked station.

So far that's just a conspiracy theory made up by players. There is nothing solid ingame to support those allegations. The Thargoid always came first, and only then did Salvation fire his superweapon. Accusations like "But he must have lured the Thargoid there!" come from the community, not from ingame sources. For all we know (again, strictly from ingame sources), Salvation may very well be "the real deal" and the "good guy" after all.

That being said, in modern fiction some guy with a name like "Salvation" is bound to be the bad guy in an "(un)expected plot twist", especially when he wields a superweapon. 🤷‍♂️

The last time Salvation collected guardian artifacts was in PMD2009 48, months after the Alexandria disappeared. Why would he have collected those if he already had the ones from the Alexandria?
Because when they are found in an attacked station he valiantly saved, they are not his artifacts, but the alexandria's. As such, we can't prove he is responsible. It's just the "bad guys who stole the artifacts" who did it. Totally unrelated to him.

Do you still think Salvation is Theta Seven and responsible for convincing people that birds are real?

When the Cornsar incident happened, Salvation's megaship full of guardian artifacts was still sitting in PMD2009 48 (over 1000lys away).
