GALNET - 07 APR 3308 - TAURUS MINING VENTURES OPERATION CONCLUDES

The fact he hides his identity (you generally don't do that unless you have something to hide), the fact he is always there at the good time, the fact we find artifacts where thargoid attacks, and it's use of a superweapon raise questions.
Also, the "mining operation" we just had, which is trying to find some weird radiation nobody else can find but them, while the other megaship is secretly gathering more artifacts.

There is also the question, where all this funding comes from. Deploying megaships and the like isn't cheap after all.

I'm sure despite being shaddy he is genuinely a good guy.

I think we found guardian artifact inside the attacked station ? I remember that.
Not within the station for the record, but there were signal sources in the system with Guardian wreckage.

I really wish this would get referenced properly at some point in GalNet, we need more "offscreen" information. The idea of luring Thargoids in this manner conflicts with the behaviour that was demonstrated when the Alexandria itself was used to bring them into the bubble, where they have to be dragged in from Thargoid territory with a massive obvious megaship. But then that also conflicted with the previous times they were lured in using nothing more than a beacon placed outside the station, so...

Regardless, it's not enough to prove that Salvation was responsible. Azimuth appear to have influence over Aegis judging by the Alexandria, and Salvation has been digging up information on Azimuth and opposing Aegis. He could equally have detected/learned of an Azimuth attempt to lure them to Cornsar, and moved to stop them.

If Salvation is a sentient AI, as some believe, they are illegal, and that would also be a good reason to hide what he really is and only work through intermediaries.

Either he is a good Samaritan sentient AI who can predict where Thargoids can strike and counter attack right at the good moment with his "friendly superweapon (tm)", with the assistance of the good folks of Taurus Mining, who protect humanity despite the risk to its life and despite the fact we would destroy it if caught. Or he is a shady individual who pull Thargoids on purpose to defeat them, with a vested interest in developing superweapons.

I wonder which one is more plausible.

BTW, I'm totally Santa Claus undercover and you should send all your stuff to my FC (the north pole), or to my elf assistant bottom hat. I will distribute it to the good kid on Christmas.

Firstly, I don't see it as that binary and secondly, it's besides the point that sentient AI is illegal - good, bad or indifferent - and that would be reason enough to hide its identity.
