GALNET - 07 DEC 3306 - Lakon Spaceways Discounts Selected Ships

Pilots Federation ALERT

Temporary price reductions have been announced for several Lakon vessels, in an effort to increase short-term profits.

Lakon Spaceways has applied a 30% discount on sales of the following ship types:

Asp Scout

Diamondback Scout

Keelback

Type-7 Transporter

Type-10 Defender

The reduced prices are expected to last until the 30th of December 3306.

Some industry analysts believe this is an attempt to increase short-term payouts for Lakon’s shareholders, many of whom have complained about falling dividends. Other investors have publicly pressured the company to accept a takeover bid from the Federal corporation Core Dynamics.

These issues were addressed by Naomi Landseer, chairperson of Lakon’s board of directors:

“It is true that profit margins are not as impressive as in previous years, but we can assure all stakeholders and customers that Lakon Spaceways remains financially secure. We project an upswing in military contracts during this turbulent time, and our achievements on behalf of the Alliance position us as one of the galaxy’s premiere shipbuilders.”

Not a fan of the T10, but will gladly take one of all for the reduced rebuy... though they will be collecting dust in the ship hangar unless they upgrade those models so they actually compete in a role... which is a flaw in all of those ships getting the discount.

I wonder, if I buy a T10 discounted now can I sell it later for profit when the price goes back up?
Negative, you’ll actually lose money because ships lose about 10% of the value when you sell them. Modules sell for their purchase price.
Pro tip: If you decide to sell a ship strip it of all modules before you sell it. If you sell the ship with those modules they too will take a 10% hit. Selling them separately will give you their full value.

Pro Tip 2: If you own one of these ships, at these discount prices (especially when you combine them with LYR and elite discounts) it would be profitable to ”re-hull” your ship. By that I mean remove all modules, sell the stripped hull, and remount your modules to the new hull. Secondary benefit is your rebuy cost will be noticeably lower.

Pro tip 3: If you’re really frugal, take spare cargo racks from these ship and use them to replace the racks on your other ships. The ship’s discount is applied to all its modules, which are significantly cheaper than any you can buy.

Excellent advices I'm way too lazy to apply.
But I was thinking about getting a Keelback, now is a perfect time to try it
