CONTACT LOST AFTER PROTEUS WAVE FIRED

09 AUG 3308
Pilots’ Federation ALERT
Communication with all ships in the HIP 22460 system has unexpectedly terminated, following the Proteus Wave’s activation.
As intended, the energy pulse from Salvation’s Guardian-based superweapon disabled all Thargoids in the system. This was followed by a second pulse of similar intensity from an undetermined source, which rendered the Bright Sentinel megaship powerless. The Thargoid vessels displayed signs of returning to life, after which all comms channels fell silent.
The Alliance Defence Force, Federal Navy and Imperial Navy have verified that they are no longer receiving signals from their capital ships. Azimuth Biotech has been unable to contact the Bright Sentinel or Heart of Taurus. There has been no word from Salvation or any Azimuth personnel within the system.
Some newsfeeds have begun publishing eyewitness reports from independent pilots, claiming that the Thargoids have resumed attacking all human ships. These statements have not been independently verified.
However, the superpowers are insisting on caution until the status of the Thargoid fleet can be ascertained. They have advised that non-military ships should avoid entering the HIP 22460 system until further notice.

Now that's an Alert to pay attention to, the one where the reporter is not at his desk because....
Were they(PF) on the planet? hah

If the PF is on the run, good sign, the contract kill squad is on the run.

Seeing the video they released at

I really applaud Frontier. I wish these could become more common.
Ooh that looks cheap. Defintelly not EvE Online quality trailer.

This reminds me of LOTRO. When the money to make good trailers are gone, you start using in-game footage, but you still don't have money to hire a professional to do the job right. Very very amature work.

Well they should have no trouble knocking them out on a more regular basis then like the man said 😆. I think most people just want stuff to happen, even if there's a bit of endearing amateurism in places.

I'm curious if Wycherley, formerly Salvation (no longer deserving of that self appointed title after today's events, if he ever was), survived the galaxy's biggest backfire, and if so will he go hide in shame or attempt a comeback.

Possible spoiler ahead (not explicitly marked as such, due to the whole thread being marked as spoiler from the begining)

During the cinematic, it can be seen that Salvation is apparently witnessing the Proteus Wave activation from a megaship or structure called "Nemesis" (which is nowhere to be found inside the system, or in the Inara records).

I'm pretty sure he will be alive somwhere. What I'm not so sure if the so called "backfire" was really unexpected, or was just part of a bigger plan by him yet to be unfold.

Didn't Zac call his carrier Nemesis? Maybe soon the true true identity of Salvation will be revealed. 🤯

That sure looks like a carrier bridge..

And he cannot have been on either megaship. At least if the cutscene is correct, but FD usually pay attention to details.

And note Salvation's demise is still not officially confirmed even in today's Galnet:

O7,
🙃

You should go read the logs in HIP22460
Could clear things up a bit in that regard
Salvation is most likely honest in his endeavor, but there are hints at dissent among his subordinates
