GALNET - 22 SEP 3307 - Salvation Takes Credit for Repelling Thargoids

The anonymous ‘man of science’ Salvation has claimed responsibility for the Thargoids’ unexplained departure from the Cornsar system.

Salvation had predicted their attack, but his claim was discounted by Aegis and other authorities. After a few days the Thargoid vessels fled abruptly, leaving behind wreckages across the system.

The following message was transmitted on public channels:

“This is Salvation. The Thargoid invasion of Cornsar has now been repulsed, thanks to prototype anti-xeno weaponry that I have been developing for some time. I have achieved what Aegis could not – an effective deterrent against the alien threat.”

“Refinement of this weapon is at a critical stage, so I cannot reveal any details. I only regret that my warning was not heeded in time to save everyone on the two starports.”

“This triumph was only possible thanks to those loyal pilots who answered my call. Rewards will shortly be available from the Bright Sentinel megaship in the Mbooni system.”

Salvation’s identity and capabilities remain unknown, but he has established a reputation as a rival to Aegis. He is also knowledgeable about Azimuth Biochemicals, a research company connected to the earliest recorded encounters with Guardian and Thargoid artefacts.

Just saw it in GalNet few minutes before servers gone offline. Is it only a galnet info or again some players got a personal message from Salvation?

So... "bright sentinel" eh?

Also, at what point did they make a connection to Azimuth Biochemicals?

Wow, neat! But how do you reconcile that statement with this one?

This triumph was only possible thanks to those loyal pilots who answered my call.

I mean, either the Thargoids were defeated with a mysterious new weapon, or by the gullible shills "loyal pilots", right?

And where did all that Thargoid bait Guardian debris at Cornsar come from, and who put it there, exactly?

Not sure what's to reconcile. They created/designed or retrofitted the weapon. We delivered it.

As for Guardian debris, we know from Ram Tah missions that in their war with Thargoids after communication attempts were rebuffed by the Thargoids, they deployed their drones en masse. It seems to be like Salvation has figured them out, either repurposed and reprogrammed, or hybrid tech with human devices. That would be a logical interpretation.

I vaguely remember Aegis researching towards automated defense drones but I don't remember where that research ended up.

It's almost as if Salvation was the one who baited the Thargoids to the system in the first place in order to test out his new weapon; knowing full well about the loss of life that would happen, then blaming Aegis and taking credit for being some kind of saviour. What a piece of work. Funny how only he knew about the impending attack.

New cannon though so he's not all bad.

Any system around Maia is literally always crawling with targets though. He could just use those for target practice.

"Man of science" we can now rule out the "runaway test pilot" and Gan Romero as being Salvations true identity. I'm really excited to see where this is going.

Hopefully we will see more engineered guardian modules and be able to actually buy them.

I shipped several hundred tons of the stuff but haven't received any message. Suppose, wait til tomorrow to see if the permit shows up.

Exactly. And further: pilots who Salvation thanks for being the reason for the victory were not supplied with technology / weaponry, were they? So if there was a victory, the only evident cause for Salvation to claim credit is the early warning, not yet, as far as we can see, his new anti-xeno goodies.

I'm also very interested to see where this leads, but you'll have to forgive live with my healthy amount of skepticism about Salvation for a while...
🍿 I'm watching...

He was crediting us for our part in the battle. AX pilots had to hold the thargoids at bay until the weapon could be deployed while the others delivered the components. For him to say he won the battle all by himself would have been extremely arrogant, incorrect, and lost him alot ot supporters. The evidence it was his weapon that won it are all the crash site POI's that now litter the planets. I was in both battles of the Witchhead Nebula and to this day there hasn't been a single thargoid crash site found. I can tell you from personal experience it got pretty crazy down there. Cornsar was a skirmish by comparison.

New message from Salvation: I got a system permit for the Mbooni system to get the reward even though I did not take part in the last mission (and the message explicitly aknowledges my not-partaking) in the hope of future cooperation.

Could you post a screenshot?
