RESCUE MEGASHIPS SCHEDULED TO REDEPLOY

07 SEP 3309
Pilots’ Federation ALERT
The eleven megaships coordinating evacuation efforts from Thargoid-invaded systems are set to move over the next few weeks.
Military analysis of the current front line has highlighted that the distance between active conflict areas and the megaships can be decreased with an acceptably low degree of risk. Vice Admiral Skylar Anderson, part of the Imperial delegation to Aegis, offered this comment:
“Shortening the distance between systems which require humanitarian support and the megaships responsible for coordinating that support is important. Until now we have urged caution to maintain their current safe positions, since these vessels are obvious targets for Thargoid attack. But as our brave pilots continue to regain territory and push the alien forces back, we feel confident that this is the right decision.”
From September 7th, the following megaships will temporarily cease offering new mission contracts. They will redeploy to new locations on September 14th, with missions offered once again:
Rescue Ship Foerster
Rescue Ship Hutner
Rescue Ship Seacole
Rescue Ship Yoshida
Allied Solace
From September 14th, the following megaships will temporarily cease offering new mission contracts. They will redeploy to new locations on September 21st, with missions offered once again:
Rescue Ship Bertschinger
Rescue Ship Cavell
Rescue Ship Cornwallis
Rescue Ship Kisseih
Imperial Sanctum
Federal Haven
Any ships or modules stored on the rescue megaships will be transported safely to the new location.

“Acceptably low degree of risk”…

So, you’re saying that, after Seo let us know directly that the Thargoids are harvesting people for god knows what purpose… we can all guess, in some way… and there’s people-stealing Thargoids around, you want to move the rescue megaships closer to the Titans?

Well, better hope the Thargoids don’t start paying attention to where we bring all of our refugees. But this sure seems like one big recipe for disaster.

Putting aside the lore concerns, I guess this is a nice thing by reducing the turnaround time for trips. Maybe Frontier will actually fix the rescue megaships so that there will be missions to more than the same three (or four, if you count occasional trips to the Allied Solace) every time?

Rescue ships offer missions? I haven't visited them for 2 or 3 weeks, but their mission boards were always empty before update 16.
we feel confident that this is the right decision.
If as a result we'll have "defend rescue megaships from Scythe raids" missions, I'm all for it, even if technically moving the rescue megaships closer to warzones would classify as a "bad idea in hindsight"🙃

They still don’t. Maybe it just means ‘mission boards will be offline’. If so, hopefully the system will be smart enough to not route players to one where they can’t hand in their evac missions. (Unless you can hand them in without the board, but I don’t think you can?)

Hey FDEV, can someone give these megaships a once-over and make sure everything is working as intended?
According to this old galnet article, missions would be turned off then turned back on after they relocated. But half of them stiil have no missions at all. And the remaining ones have started offering missions that have nothing to do with the thargoid war, but instead are for the local factions in their systems - which clogs up their mission boards and prevents them offering relevant missions i.e. the spire collection and contamination missions.

Not to mention that the majority of independent stations are still insisting that their evacuations go to Bertschinger, for example the stations in Chibis at the moment expect us to take their passengers 234 Light Years across the bubble to Haritanis, or 237 Light Years to Gera.
