SEO JIN-AE: ‘I BELIEVE SALVATION SURVIVED’

30 MAR 3309
Aegis has published a personal statement from Seo Jin-ae, who claims to have evidence that Salvation planned to escape death in the HIP 22460 system.
“First of all, yes, Caleb Wycherley died when the Thargoids attacked the Bright Sentinel in HIP 22460. But, I believe, only physically. He was developing technology to automatically relocate his mind, an emergency protocol he named the Nemesis Failsafe.”
“I know how implausible that sounds, but the files I recovered from an Azimuth Biotech archive prove his intentions. For several years, Salvation ran a private project to reverse-engineer a Guardian artefact which could store consciousness. The design showed neural interactions as digital impulses, and made reference to exactly retaining his identity and memories.”
“Salvation had already extended his life to over 250 years, and was obsessed with staying alive until he could wipe out the Thargoids. I’m convinced that he has survived in some bodiless form, and that Azimuth has known all along.”
Aden Tanner, who works for Aegis as an independent specialist, also released a statement:
“I’ll admit that the designs Seo found seem authentic and incredibly advanced. But the files contained no concrete proof that the Nemesis Failsafe was constructed, or if it could actually work. I’m more concerned that she was being hunted by unknown parties, who would likely have succeeded if not for the Far God cult’s intervention. Perhaps it needs to be restated that actively seeking to hinder Aegis, or its valued personnel, is a crime against all three superpowers.”
In related news, the Testament megaship that rescued Seo Jin-ae from unidentified attackers has now left the Luyten’s Star system, following a week of clemency offered by Federal authorities. A spokesperson for President Hudson reiterated that the Order of the Far God remains illegal in the Federation

Tanner said:

And even if it did work, if it could continue to work having been hit by a system-wide shutdown field especially affecting Guardian-derived technology.

Though he may have taken a backup a few minutes earlier, of course.

Interesting - I don't think many of us were guessing he was already in his 80s at the time of INRA's Mycoid plans.

Necessary to make his claim to being the oldest living human correct, though.

So which high ranking official is now a glove puppet for Salvation?

This has been obvious since the cinematic. The figure of "Salvation" was clearly abord a vessel called Nemesis - not the Bright Sentinel.

… Nemesis was not a SHIP, it’s a failsafe program to store his entire consciousness digitally. If he wasn’t aboard the Bright Sentinel in HIP 22460, he wouldn’t have died… or his body, at least.

The fact that Tanner refuses to believe that he would’ve built this device, and more importantly could have, is still disappointing. I get that he likely doesn’t have an interest in dedicating any resources to it when there’s a war going on, but this reeks of Salvation so much it’s not even funny.

I guess we just need to wait until Seo gets tired of trying to convince him and gives us a pointer instead. Or she goes through Tesreau about it.

Well, and I’m also awaiting the inevitable Azimuth retort that it’s all machinations in the head of a deluded person who isn’t thinking straight and needs their “expert medical help” that totally isn’t just cutting her open to figure out why things work with her that didn’t with others.

And even if it did work, if it could continue to work having been hit by a system-wide shutdown field especially affecting Guardian-derived technology.
That’s assuming he had the failsafe placed on a ship that would likely be destroyed if things went wrong.

He very probably didn’t, and it was somewhere outside HIP 22460 instead. Whatever its original location might have been, I have a strong feeling it is currently on the not-so-AX Eternal Vigilance.

Personally I still wonder if that was an oversight by Frontier and that Nemesis was simply the name of the fleet carrier they happened to be on when filming that sequence and that they subsequently retcon'd the story to include the name. The alternative I suppose is that it was planned all along and that they deliberately gave the fleet carrier the name "Nemesis" as a little easter egg/teaser for the observant. Arthur did say on stream at one point that everything was intentional and, while some things are clearly not intentional, I wonder if he specifically had this in mind as a little gotcha for the all to eager to find fault community.

Intriguing either way.

It seem more likely that he had active remote access to his digital "backup program" on Bright Sentinel bridge. This figure seems paranoid enough and to have something like this at hand in critical moments seems logical.

Tanners's position imo do not allows him to actively act without clear evidence. I think he may support SEO JIN-AE with accesses to archives or tranport while she will gathering more direct evidence, but hardly can do more as that right now when he have his hands full with ongoing Thargoid full invasion.

So Salvation in proper Cyber-Lich manner will raise an Android army with Guardian based personnel weapons which we then capture in a fight Salvation CG and reverse engineer for ourselves to use in Thargoid ground combat. Yep, sounds convoluted enough. CONFIRMED!

Honestly though, it doesn't really matter how evil he looks now, glowing red eyes, monotone voice, maniacal laugh, as long as he keeps giving out pretties, people are still going to keep on supporting him.

Aegis or the independent militaries really need to step up their weapons development game if they want to keep that from happening.

Personally, I'll support whoever gives me modified Guardian fighters. I pledged to the guy who makes hamburgers out of prisoners just to get some shiny Shield destroying lasers, you really think being a robot is going to stop me?

Arthur commented on Nemesis specifically in a live-stream after I called it out during their dev vs cm quiz special.
It was a funny reaction but not a confused one. Pretty sure they meant it to be an easter-egg. After all, it could be the software running on Salvations screen, not the name of the megaship itself.

I’m not convinced Seo’s going to be leaving the Aegis facility, wherever it may be, anytime soon. Whoever’s after her is almost certainly related to Azimuth or Salvation in some way, and they’d definitely try again if she went out to look for more clues. And giving her backup to ensure her safety would be taking Aegis resources away from the war effort.

I also think that she knows better than to run off alone now, tempting as it may be. Plenty of willing people are out there willing to look… some for the right reasons, others for the wrong ones.

Maybe you need to look more closely at the image I posted or the cinematic itself - you can clearly see the name of the FC the "Salvation" figure is on is NEMESIS.

Of course, as is common on the interwebthingie these days - you believe whatever you want.

He was on the bright sentinel, as confirmed by sources in-game and out-of-game (community manager).

But yeah, as you said, you believe whatever you want...
