Galnet Update 22 DEC 3306 - Investors Take Control of Lakon Spaceways

22 DEC 3306
A coalition of Lakon Spaceways shareholders has voted to replace several members of the company’s board of directors with new management.

At an emergency general meeting, investors put forward a resolution to remove selected directors, in accordance with Lakon’s articles of association. The majority vote was in favour of this resolution.

New appointees to the board have already stated that the rejected bid by Federal shipbuilder Core Dynamics will be reappraised. Jupiter Rochester, the corporation’s CEO, has welcomed the opportunity for fresh discussions.

Chairperson Naomi Landseer, who is one of the directors being replaced, told Vox Galactica:

“It’s no coincidence that the board members being voted out are the same ones who were against Core Dynamics owning the company. I am convinced that Rochester’s people are bribing or threatening our shareholders to make sure this hostile takeover goes through.”

Lakon Spaceways is currently offering a 30% discount on sales of Asp Scouts, Diamondback Scouts, Keelbacks, Type-7 Transporters and Type-10 Defenders.

Core Dynamics has applied a 30% markdown to sales of the Eagle MkII and the Vulture, with a 20% discount for Federal Assault Ships, Federal Dropships and Federal Gunships.

all we need now is for the Alliance/Empire to argue over something and we have a 3 way tussle
Nah, with the NMLA problem no longer being an issue between the Fednecks and the Empire I think a war between those two is unlikely, at least in the forseeable future. Though it is fair to say that their relationship is certainly more tense then it was just a few months ago...

Can't believe nobody realizes this is an excuse to release the Panther Clipper. Just kidding... maybe.
I'm actually on the cusp of buying a FC and the only thing that's stopped me so far is the sense that bigger ships are coming
I've got 1 more rank to Admiral and then I move on to a FC, that is when they will start releasing em, Huge class ships juuuuust after I fully invest into a FC

Maybe the Alliance will want to invest in Gutamaya maybe?

naaa the Alliance are the poor relation of the 3

there is still (albeit a very small) chance that CoreD want the rights/path the way to build a better Alliance Fleet, yes there are fedneck links with CD but money is money right? bit like the VAG group, Alliance will be the skoda/seat to the fednecks lambo/bentley ?

Nah, Panther Clipper is a Zorgon Peterson ship and I doubt this Lakon kerfuffle is going to affect Zorgon's current owner, Faulcon DeLacy, at all.

Would be nice if FD just decided to release it though.

I've said that as soon as this storyline emerged. Maybe not Panther Clipper, but we might get some new ships with Odyssey and this just looks like good way to introduce them into the lore.

I'd be interested in a Lakon Eagle, maybe drop a hard point for a utility slot, and up the cargo a tad by ditching the size 2 military slot for a size 2 or 3 optional for a Lakon entry level ship half the price of a DBS.
