Galnet Update 27 JAN 3307 - Starship One Testimony Update

Former President Jasmina Halsey has taken the witness stand during the trial of Fleet Admiral Lucas Vincent at the Federal High Court.

Crime correspondent Ethan Takahashi reported the details for The Federal Times:

“Jasmina Halsey confirmed that the orders for Starship One’s unscheduled stopover in the Azaleach system came directly from Fleet Admiral Vincent. She added that the presidential itinerary was often altered for various mundane reasons, and at the time this seemed routine.”

“Halsey also provided an account of the vessel’s destruction, describing the chaos and panic onboard as the hyperspace misjump caused rapid structural disintegration. She praised her security detail for getting her into a cryogenic stasis pod and launching it moments before Starship One exploded.”

“During cross-examination, the defence counsel quoted her reported visions after being rescued, when Halsey described meeting the ‘caretakers of our galaxy’ and experiencing the ‘infinities of the cosmos’. It was suggested that the testimony of someone suffering from such obvious delusions should be discounted.”

“Halsey admitted that she no longer has any memory of making those statements, and may have been suffering from post-traumatic shock. She then provided the court with psychological reports and neural scans from the Alliance’s finest doctors, medically confirming that she is of sound state of mind.”

so 2 galnet articles on the trial this week and no traditional CG, could we be going on a manhunt for a runaway?

I really, really, really hope they are not dropping the whole Halsey visions/creators/Palin/Black Ops stuff that was going on. That to me was the most engaging storyline that they had running, and the thought that now Galnet has resumed they are just going to throw that whole part away is very worrying.

But Halsey could simply be dismissing the situation so as to not discredit her evidence, and the storyline will be picked up.

We can only hope.
Why do I keep doing this to myself?

No, I believe they just happened to be a minor faction in the system that was chosen. https://eddb.io/faction/21638

Thinking this over, I reckon they could still run with that arc, even in light of halseys recent comments, one such way would be:
  1. Add a third party who decides to investigate the "Halsey visions" even though she's denying/supressing the memories of them. Take for example eccentric billionaire who built an outpost at the roof of the galaxy, his next quest could be to fund a CG looking for planetary scan data from the system where SS1's remains were found and material fragments of the ship.
  2. Halsey could release a statement rebuking the initiative.
  3. A week later he could announce through galnet that he's hired a team of crack scientists to analyse the data.
  4. Halsey could then release another galnet suggesting they are wasting their time, there's nothing to find, honest...
  5. Billionaire says it's as much for fun as for findings, so he's going to crack on...
  6. Mahon chimes in saying he's uncomfortable about anyone attempting to probe the innerworkings of one of his most senior advisors minds, particularly when that person has themselves asked for the matter to be closed.
  7. A couple of weeks later those scientists could have a eureka moment but need a massive amount of resources, obtained by a trade CG, to experiment on their theory.
  8. After a couple of weeks of experimentation with their new fangled apparatus built using the stuff from the CG, a puzzle could be released to galnet for CMDR's to tinfoil the frak out of.
  9. Halsey then releases her most intriguing statement in ages, imploring for the scientists to back away from it, in a cryptic, yet ominous press release she said "I strongly urge the scientists investigating my visions to stop; some unknowns are best left unknown".
  10. And of course, that red flag from Halsey trying to stop us instead incites us like a red rag to a bull...

I can only presume Halsey's visions were how we were meant to find the Guardian Ruins, but since that happened other ways, I guess it's FD's way of putting that to bed :(

That is very true, and a definite possibility. I was hoping since they brought her back in they could repurpose it if that was the case.
