Utopia Shares Update on Nemesis Failsafe

11 DEC 3309

Simguru Pranav Antal has discussed Utopia’s analysis of the designs for a Guardian-based device allegedly constructed by Salvation.

The schematics for the Nemesis Failsafe were unearthed by Seo Jin-ae, who believed that Salvation had developed a way to digitise and relocate his mind upon physical death. Following concerns that Utopia was involved, Aegis shared these designs with the commune to confirm that there was no connection with their Sim-Archive technology.

Pranav Antal recently sent a message to Aegis, which has been made public with Utopia’s permission:

“After studying the designs intensively, our neurosmiths have gained some insights into the Nemesis Failsafe. Salvation’s unique knowledge of Guardian energy particles and their applications exceeds even our understanding. But we have formulated a theory about what happened when the ‘Nemesis protocol’ was activated aboard the Bright Sentinel megaship, shortly before its destruction in HIP 22460.”

“I would like to discuss this matter in person with Seo Jin-ae. Her unique experience with Salvation’s methods and independent research into his character may help me resolve some remaining questions.”

Vox Galactica’s science correspondent Leon Banerjee reported:

“The Nemesis Failsafe question is generally viewed with scepticism, if not outright mockery, among leading exoneurologists. Nobody disputes Salvation’s expertise at weaponising Guardian artefacts, but few believe that a living mind could be converted into electromagnetic pulses, even using alien technology.”

“Azimuth Biotech is also dismissive, not just about the science but the very idea that Salvation may have survived. Torben Rademaker has referred to it as ‘inappropriate and disrespectful to the memory of our founder Caleb Wycherley.’ Nevertheless, Aegis has agreed to transport Seo Jin-ae to meet Pranav Antal, if she accepts his invitation.”

About damn time, I say.

I do (also) wonder if there’s a potential scientific interest in seeing what some of Seo’s memories would look like in the Sim-Archive, providing she agreed to it. Wouldn’t be surprised if Pranav made that offer as well, if in private between the two.

From the Desk of PRANAV ANTAL:
Hi! I'm really excited to meet up with Seo re: nerolink technology. Could arrange for lunch discussion, as my mindcam can transcribe any deet so there's no trouble re: sync issues re: the n.l tech surgically implanted within her. She should be fine with it, as she referred us w/you in the first place, right! See you [or should I say Seo] soon?
P.A.
:)

Seo Jin-ae could do with her own ship, rather than depending on an Aegis taxi. (Something fast.)
Last time she was in a ship of her own, she got jumped by totally-not-Azimuth mercs. And you’d bet that “Aegis taxi” would be appropriately escorted, not like a certain someone’s Clipper from a few years ago.

Also, if it does turn out true that the plot will be “Thargoids swing the hammer real hard and then the idiot himself shows up to play the war messiah again”… please show me the nearest pickup point for the Thargoid club card. I don’t trust the mistakes to avoid being repeated.

Allow me to amend that by saying I forgot the Orunmilla exists. I’d say it would do fine as a taxi that nobody’s going to be so quick to poke at in the wrong way.

And if it suddenly disappears in hyperspace like a certain other Aegis megaship did about a year and a few months ago, well, that might raise some suspicions… especially if the Thargoids were a convenient suspect to blame.

But I’ll avoid going off on any of those tinfoil-inspired ramblings claiming those mercs that attacked Seo back in March were related to Azimuth purely based on the definitely coincidental presence of Mbooni near that area of space… for now.

So, are we hearing about the invitation now to build suspense for something going wrong, or does this plotline just need a bit more padding? Maybe an article for her having accepted, then another for her departing, another for arrival, and so on.
