Didn't this originally appear in "Worms" back in the 90s?

If they were going to do this, then I think it should be a constantly updated single thread so it does not push the other stories away from the Galnet board.

I agree, these kinds of news items should be kept separate from the main news items so it's easier to follow the main story and the state of the ongoing political battles.

Worms, Freelancer, and Unreal did it. Don't know why modern games don't do these sorts of flavor texts anymore.

Just a top 10 or top 5 list of players destroying their ships (out of combat) would be funny enough for me on GalNet

A "Galactic news" segment that contains the storyline stuff, a "Commander news" segment that highlights bounties, recent killing, etc - maybe an economic section that talks about trends in markets across the galaxy, famine, shortages, etc., plus buy/sell rates of different ships (sort of like what they had in the newsletter during the betas). And maybe for fun add in an entertainment section with sports, celebrity, horoscopes, etc.
