WALLGLASS LINKS RACKHAM TO ‘CALICO ZACK’

18 SEP 3309
The Federal Times has published evidence that trillionaire and presidential candidate Zachary Rackham was once the pirate lord ‘Calico Zack’.
The newsfeed featured a detailed exposé by financial journalist Bryanna Blanco:
“The Wallglass Investigations Agency has confirmed my long-held suspicions about Zachary Rackham’s past. With the timely assistance of independent pilots, we have unearthed a message archive concealed in the Zeta Trianguli Australis system.”
“This was created as insurance by a pirate named Angelo Defries. Wallglass’s analysis revealed that Defries learned of Zachary Rackham’s alter-ego over sixteen years ago, and threatened to transmit evidence to several newsfeeds – including, ironically, us here at The Federal Times.”
“While Defries seems to have disappeared around 3992 with his evidence withheld, conversations from that period were traced to the Wishbone Point facility. Wallglass, in conjunction with volunteer pilots, tracked down and decrypted the damning logs.”
“This vindicates my many years investigating Rackham’s criminal activities and corruption. More importantly, we have proved that the Federation is at risk of electing a pirate lord as its president.”
Vox Galactica reporter Patricia Chen covered the story:
“Mr Rackham strenuously denied these allegations, stating that he always tolerated ‘being associated with a mythical figure’ as it gave him ‘an aura of danger that was useful in boardroom meetings’. His devoted followers say that the evidence was manufactured for Wallglass to find, and that Bryanna Blanco is secretly funded by either Jerome Archer or Felicia Winters.”
“However, high-profile supporters such as business magnate ‘Sir’ Randolph Plaskett and ICE-caster Sura Oyekan have publicly withdrawn their support. The value of shares in Rackham Capital Investments has also nosedived. With a month until the voting period opens, this discovery has disrupted an already much-delayed Federal election.”

Election date reconfirmed to be right after update 17...

So please FDev - to date this article to 18 SEP 3309 and then write in that a person disappeared in 3992. Either you add an exciting story about time travel or you should consider to have the texts proofread by someone who has at least a little idea about ED. (I guess 3292 would have been the better choice as 3309-3292 > 16 ;))

With how Blanco has acted in the past, and the position of the Federal Times in general, it is quite plausible this is being orchestrated for political reasons. But there's also not a lot of clues that would suggest the allegation is falsified, I mean it could be, but narratively Frontier usually aren't this subtle and give some clue. Maybe both are true and this was just deemed the most damaging way to reveal Rackham's past, after years of unevidenced speculation from Blanco didn't do the job.

The dates were corrected to 3292 shortly after the messages went out, so people collecting the logs after we fixed the typo should have seen the correct date.

I will neither confirm nor deny that I was responsible for the typo, and would like to refer all questions to Mr. Rackham's legal team.
It was totally my fault though.

They are probably a lot busy with the aftermath of the logs and all the people filling against Rackham Capital Investments for mismanagement (or whatever you file against when you learn the CEO could be a pirate and now your shares are worth nearly nothing because of it). If anything, this whole "time travel typo" is probably helping seed the confusion in people and reducing the validity of these claims in the eyes of the people and...

...

Wait... it wasn't a typo, IT WAS ON PURPOSE. It's just being masked as a typo!

Okay, guys, hold on. Hold on. I just had a vision. For just a moment, my brainwaves resonated with the tinfoil hat and I saw things. You want the wackiest theory, it's 99.99% not the case but WHAT IF-

Rackham isn't Calico. Rackham was the informant.

Just a few days ago, we were told that there were allegedly very few deaths in Calico's wake. Now, these logs show Calico murdering his informant and putting his finger in a box. It didn't sit right with me. Also, Calico being caught by fingerprints on the box? Surely he'd be more careful than that when putting the finger in the box...wait.

What if Rackham was the informant, leveraging his family's connections on Homeland. That's where the transport was headed, and its the same planet Rackham is from. But the lead is a dud. Calico chops off a finger as punishment but doesn't kill Rackham because that's not his style, and Rackham is more useful alive, and killing Rackham would probably bring a lot of heat down on him. The finger works well enough for intimidation anyway.

Rackham touched the outside of the box, or more likely his severed finger did, accidentally or intentionally. Defries finds this out, Calico plays along because it's worth the cost to keep Rackham free and useful. Worst case scenario, Calico can even use this to hide his own identity perfectly. It's perfect.

Another possible connection that doesn't really affect this Onionhead theory - the mining robot that went haywire on Homeland. What if that was an attempt to breach another Vandermeer facility? The company that produced the robot, MacArthur Mining, was later purchased by Rackham. Now, that could just be a writer looking for existing lore on Homeland for the sake of continuity, but WHAT IF IT'S NOT-

ALSO RAXXLA IS CALICO ZACK AND BLANCO IS THE DARK WHEEL AND HADRIAN DUVAL IS THE TRUE HEIR TO THE FEDERATION- ZACK IN THE BOX! ZACK IN THE BOX!

So technically when all of Wallglass die accidentally, those dodgy treegrub canapes give everyone bar Zack fatal food poisoning- does that mean the Kumo Council run the Federation (since Zack is buddies with them)?

FYI I just scanned the logs this morning (for the 1st time) and they still read 3992. Honestly I was 1/2 hoping that the dodgy date was some kind of subtle hint that these were faked.

Very impressive. That is one hell of a pretzel you got there. 😏

I would have QA verify this. I just picked up the messages last night, and they still had the future date.
