After spending an obscene amount of time enjoying Elite Dangerous, I've encountered a glitch that makes me question whether I should uninstall ED.
After unlocking all the Guardian modules, I decided to work on unlocking of the Engineers.
Bill Turner was next on my list.
Found out that I needed to obtain an Alioth system permit. In order to get the permit I had to become friendly with Alioth Independents faction.
Best place to go for that mission is heading to (78 Ursae System). I chose to do Commodities hauling between Starports; Rominger Dock and Townshend Hub until I became friendly.
Easy enough. So... After spending hours to accomplish this feat, voila, I get a message saying that I have fulfilled the requirements to obtain the necessary Alioth System Permit.
Excited about my achievement, I searched the Mission Board in Rominger Dock and found a new "Follow-On Mission": Permit Aquisition Opportunity.
It reads; "Commander, your work has impressed us enough to grant you a permit. Further details to arrive via your inbox. We look forward to our contined business relationship."
All I have to do is click on the Accept button.
But lo and behold, the button is not highlighted. It cannot be clicked upon.
Okay. I remember obtaining the Sol permit and found out that it was necessary to reboot ED to update the changes. So I rebooted. The Accept button was still unhighlighted.
Frstrated, I looked online for answers to my dilemma. Many people have had the same problem but no definitive answer to follow through.
Some people suggested that I should try other Docks and see if they would be different. I then found out that every dock I visited within the 78 Majoris System had the same issue.
I cannot obtain the Alioth System Permit!
Now the question for me is; After spending a few hundred hours enjoying ED, do I continue playing, without unlocking the rest of the Engineers, or just quit in absolute frustration and delete the game entirely.
I hope that there's a solution. One thing is certain though. There's not a chance I will buy Odyssey. What's the point? Without engineers, the game is pointless to continue.
If there is an answer, I will be enormously grateful for the solution.
Thank you in advance.
