Game crashes

Can you get into your save without crashing? If so, just delete the billboards and save immediately after and you should be fine.

Took your advice, it seems to be stable now. I also verified the files for the game via steam also, thanks mate.

When looking in the Bug report section a lot of bugs are fixed in their current build. Which is an update of the ones we have.

So when a majority of those fixes have been done then the update will be released to us.
When that will be? We don't know and have to wait for it.

I suppose it is all or nothing for me no point using billboards if they bully my poor little CPU into a spasm and spit out my graphics card for breakfast (sigh) am eager for the update but like you said who knows when. Could go out now spend just under 1k and get a very good spec, pass this PC to my boy but have to wait as it looks like I have to spend £800 alone on the rear SAM for my merc GL

You can use billboards with static images just fine. It's only the videos that are causing the massive performance hit, because they have to be decoded by your CPU.
