Game Forgets About Horizons - During Gameplay

I load up Elite, everything seems to be fine, the Horizons logo is there etc. I start playing, then after a while the game decides I don't have Horizons after all, and I suddenly can't access the respective functions. Even the logo changes back in the pause menu.

Also, most of the time I have to launch the game twice because the first time it doesn't recognize Horizons.

This has been happening since the September update. Has anyone created a ticket for this issue or is this another new bug?

The only time I've experienced this was when Xbox Live itself was having problems. The game would launch and show the Horizons logo, but none of the features would work beyond the base game. It could be an Xbox problem more than an Elite problem. Have you tried troubleshooting possible XBL connection issues?

Yes, of course I checked Xbox Live (which worked properly at the time) and also reinstalled the Horizons Season Pass. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I very rarely had this problem before, but since the update it's continuous. Also, never "lost" Horizons during actual gameplay but now it happens all the time. Quite annoying.

Well I came here to post this same problem but I see somebody already did.
Same as others, when I launch the game it doesn't recognise horizons, if I shut it down and launch again usually it works, sometimes it takes a third try. I did notice tonight when I quit to the main menu it was then showing the usual elite logo not the horizons one.

Not had that bug

I had the same issue 2-3 months ago. I was out exploring and game was working fine, landed on several planets and didn't notice anything was up until I was going to land on another planet and I couldn't. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out what was going on but it was the different looking main menu that eventually tipped me off. I ended up having to do a reinstall but it was the one and only time I've encountered the problem.

The funny thing here is that I can happily land on planets while the game tells me I need Horizons for Holo-me and Engineers. So on the one hand it thinks I don't have Horizons while on the other hand it thinks otherwise. I wish Frontier would get rid of this DLC model and just integrate Horizons into the base game.

Its an amazing game and has captured my imagination but in its current state it is a patchwork of code that gets more complicated with each small change and patch. If you think this is bad, just wait for space legs.... I do agree that integrating horizons and making it part of the default game and available to all is a great solution but I don't code so who knows.

So today I tried uninstalling and re-installing the game, still the same, loads up thinking I don't own horizons.

I have almost the same issue, but i got it in the Main menu. After a few seconds, the game says: new purchase detected, and then restarts. But this can go on some time. Reinstalling the game hasnt helper.

I thought the purchase detected error was unrelated. Try signing out of all accounts on your Xbox except the one which purchased Elite. Then restart the game

It's the same for me. If I wait in the main menu the game recognizes Horizons and throws me back to the title screen. But this process can repeat 3-4 times before it finally properly loads.

(Not to mention how long it takes to log in.)

I've had this issue for some time. I can't use some options on my right hand panel like the engineers or holo-me but I can access multi-crew and if I try to land it does let me.

It’s actually super fracking annoying as I was trying to do some engineering with broo. Just unlocking home is a big kick in the stones. He requires 50 tea but they are only sold 23 at a time, forcing me to make a third trip for 3 tea...

then the game breaks.
