Game Freezing in RES and other places

Since the launch of 1.5/Horizons, I've been plagued by game-freezes about every 45 minutes, normally when I'm engaged in battle with big ships, especially wings of three. Today, after making these recommended changes, no freezes in about 4 hours. Give it a try if you have the problem:

Hi all, before sorry for my english.
its solved for me.
İ have gtx 960 4gb and 8gb ram and i changed graphic settings high to medium. close antialiasing and multisampling 1.
I open msi afterburner and i looked graphic memory used values.

high setting most 3600mb ram using vram (actually crashing in 10-15 min)
medium setting most 2600 mb using vram (no crash or freezing for 4-5 hours)

now i dont take any crash, freezing issues at res zones.

Edit: Quick update. I had a short 2 hour session, where it froze once, and another 4 hour session, where it didn't freeze at all, so it's a lot better, but still not perfect.

Edit 2: Another 8 hours in the RES and no freezing today.

Maybe people aren't seeing this, so I'm posting again to bump it.

No freezes today either.

If anybody else has crashes, please try this and post the results.

I have a card in the same class, but older. GTX760. I had already changed to medium settings (was high) and noticed an improvement, but still get the freezes here and there. The last time I was in a HazRES (a couple of days ago), it froze after about an hour, which was the same as it was early in 2.0. At least it isn't happening very time I go to a RES. I'll try turning off anti aliasing and setting multisampling to 1 if it isn't already when get back home, but I probably won't be going to a RES for a little while.

Me and some people in our clan (about 8 of us) started playing this on a daily basis about 1½ week ago, and we were getting freeze crashes every 30 mins or so. We're pretty sure it's not due to our rigs, since we all play on very different setups, with me using a gtx 970 and another using dual titans. We're also based in different countries around europe, so shouldn't be a connection thing either. We noticed it tended to happen mostly in RES sites, and once in a while when entering one of the cube stations.

Now that we've switched from bounty hunting for smuggling, it happens maybe once or twice a day at the most, and only when entering a cube station.

We noticed it seemed to happen more often when there was an anaconda around, but we aren't completely sure if it was just random or if it was the cause. But RES sites definitely has something to do with it.

Did you try what it says in post#1?

I see lots more posts in the other thread about people with problems, but nobody seems to want to try this, that worked for me. I don't understand it. Not a single person has come back and said yes or no after trying it. There was nothing wrong with my PC. It's high spec and everything new. No software except Windows, basic stuff to run the PC and ED.

I had the same thing happening, quite frequently for several days after the patch. I merely tried closing the Launcher page and only keep the Client open. I had not one crash or freeze since. My system is an old and humble 2500k@4.2ghz, 8gigs of good ram, and a GTX680. I play on mostly high settings the game chose for me.

I must say, most of my freezes are in RES sites and there was an Anaconda in combat everytime it happened ^^

Same for me - except it isn't always an Anaconda I am attacking (though it is 90% of the time).

I have a Radeon HD 7950. Turning Ultra settings down to High (that is about 4 or 5 settings) & Supersampling down (from x1.0 to x0.85) has helped a bit - the freezes happen about half the time now (say once or twice a day instead of 4 or 5 times). I had no problems at all before the 1.5 update.

it was happening here recent days many times also suffered several freezes with looping sound..
updated audio and video drivers an no solution of this type of crashes..

didn't done that much, but always thought whats the reason or running that app in the background..
the main thing done is switched to border-less window mode form usual full-screen..

my system is 2500k@4.2ghz, 24gigs of ram, and a GTX970 G1, play on mostly ultra-high settings altering some setting from time to time..
even run the game from RAM drive utility after crashed an spite of game files SSD installation..

first times freezes appeared at REZ cites as many noticed too..

high setting most 3600mb ram using vram (actually crashing in 10-15 min)
medium setting most 2600 mb using vram (no crash or freezing for 4-5 hours)

after reading some numerous threats here on forums decided to monitor VRAM usage more attentive and it founds out that at ultra and high setting memory consumption can break pass 3.5G limit of that G1 gaming gigabyte video car using here (it has 0.5 G slower ram manufacturer confirmed widely), so today made an alteration to lower texture quality to fit into not more than 1024x3.5 mb not to pass base video memory and it seems prevent from crash freeze happening so far !! :)

devs must check that out if the freeze comes out exactly because of VRAM limitation reason..

as about ED launcher, from now just making sure to click close after pressing start..
that launcher by the way isn't allowing to run 32-bit version recent days..
wish vote to redesine and check what is with the launcher further..

thanks.

Solo mode. I've had 2 hard crashes last 3 days, both in High RES sites that were highly populated with NPC players* and FEDS* battling it out. I actually knew the game was going to lockup, the freeze was prefaced by small noticeable stutters in gameplay over about 30 seconds then it locked. My normal gameplay is smooth as silk with frames from 90+. If I'm in less populated RES sites the issue does not occur for me.View attachment DxDiag.txt
