Game freezing spontaneously from anywhere upto 20 seconds at a time?

Yes, I had that too. Three or four times for 10 - 20 secs. The game did come alive again and didn't crash.

Yes, a couple of times for me. No crash but 20 second freeze up.

edit: could be smoother, didn't wreck my night

This happened to me twice this evening and I've never seen it before. The first time was when I was in hyperspace and the second time whilst scooping fuel. I wonder if it might have been related to trying to connect to a server, as the game was essentially paused - my temperature and position by the star I was scooping from didn't change and the audio was stuck playing whatever it had been doing at the time on both occasions.

Had one tonight when I was about to jump out of system - really thought the game had crashed - pulled up task manager and it suddenly came back.
I suspect in the past it would have fell over due to not reaching server, but they've tweaked something so it can recover. Ironically this might actually "look" more buggy than before, but is "probably" an improvement.

Although its not happened to me, my wing mate had a similar issue several times tonight. Oddly, did not affect me, although we were not in the same zone, we were just mostly chatting and catching up (Real life friend).

Yeah I had that goddamn bug, too. And one of my wingmates half an hour earlier.

(Once in a CZ where I was the only player, the other one happened while we were dueling.)

i have this happen in many games and other things. if something is full screen, sometimes windows 10 or something else will just seem to grab priority or something. ctrl alt del will bring up the blue screen but then i click for task manager it will open in the task view window you can see it but you cant switch it to front and if you do manage to its blank. nothing but a blank window. sometimes if i open another desktop the system will wake up again, and depending on what game it is i have been logged out or it crashes to desktop (skyrim CTD on those occasions more often that it recovers.)

so are you sure its the game (if on pc)? it might just be whatever it is windows is doing in secret when it seems to freeze everything. what confuses me is, it is definitely windows because you cant open anything else even task manager; nor can you alt tab to anything and have it come to the front, but its not using up the cpu or something - you can still open a second desktop for example almost instantly. its like windows 10 just freezes all programs running for no reason.

Aha so it's not just me.

Happened 3 times to me today, game locks up with nothing responding a sound loop then it shakes out of it and continues on from where it left off epidsodes last about 10 to 20 seconds.

I'm also seeing micro stutters approaching stations in frameshift or maneuvering around the star after jumping into a system.

Has anyone put a bug report in?

AORUS Gaming 7 370 mobo
RIFT CV1
SSD install
Windows 10

I am experiencing freezes up 20 seconds or more if I sit outside a station for more than 10 minutes.
Otherwise fine. (fabulous actually)

Oh and Ed or someone else asks us to make a bug report, then fine but you should also do your due diligence.

Had one freeze-up today when I was testing out the FSS controls. Slow approach to a planet, wanted to drop the throttle to zero (30k/s) and no change on speed. No change in direction either. Unable to drop to sub-light either. And pointed directly at the planet. Solution was to force kill the game (CTRL-ALT-DEL) in task manager and restart from there. Worked fine after that.

You should just wait for it next time as it does seem to come back.

It might not but it would be good to know how long you waited.

I would also add that about a year ago the station was the worst performance place. I had to tweak settings to get the best performance there.
I'm thinking there is a ram leak somewhere.

Happened to me a couple of times this evening. It's a wierd effect in VR. The image freezes and if you turn your head there's just blackness off to the sides. I also got an hourglass on occasion.
