Game has lost direction - problems since update still not addressed

After the update I decided to ease off on the game until the problems (BGS, bugged missions, connection issues, game freezing, etc etc etc) were found and resolved. Logged in today to find that nothing much has changed, game still freezes whenever you enter a system even if only for a couple of seconds ( and yes I have the latest updated drivers for my graphics card which is way above the minimum required) ok so it's a minor problem which isn't game breaking but still annoying. Accepted a mission from the controlling faction I'm allied with to recover a black box, collected black box, issued with warning of incoming enemies with bounty of 180,000 for each one killed, allow interdiction to be able to kill them and receive bonus only for them to fire one pass then FSD away ( happened with same npc four times before I became bored and just headed for the base to hand in mission) , Same faction in control of station scans me on docking and I'm issued with a fine for carrying the black box THEY sent me to retrieve which then meant I couldn't hand in the mission. Do not say this is logical. It appears that not only is the BGS bugged but even standard missions still have problems. This leaves possibly only two actions to play until this 'major update' is sorted out, namely exploration and mining. Even with the updated method of scanning, exploration with no other achievement than being the first to scan a system (whatever happened to trying to find clues to Raxxla or other similar progress in game?) quickly becomes boring and repetitive, then thanks to the ridiculous pay-outs achievable in mining for void opals becoming a billionaire takes only a couple of hours even if your bad at mining. The whole point was supposed to be that it is NOT easy and takes time ( Reference to 'The Dark Wheel' where Rafe states it takes a lifetime to earn enough to settle on a Earth type world and retire (if you live that long)) but with the multiplayer aspect becoming the priority all people seem to want is the biggest ship with the best weapons and they want them yesterday! so they can engage in PvP, well PvP was never what this game was just supposed to be about; it had the prospect of so much more than 'just another PvP fest'. Even the Thargoid storyline has stalled with them becoming just another combat zone that, if you cannot be bothered, can just be ignored.

I fail to understand your reply as it shows only links to previous items, the suggestion is that Fdev decide what the game is to become, don't forget that once done they should lead to further missions but , as with the Dark wheel missions that are no longer available there is no follow up. Your links only further the idea that the game has lost direction and there is no storyline anymore. Where to find Thargoids only shows how they have been reduced to combat targets in game, when you point to methods of 'quickly' reaching Colonia (that is/was not the point of having this base so far from the bubble rather that players would explore). The Palin missions have been reduced to collecting items from crash sites which are conveniently close by. The alien ruins/ thargoid structures are only required for the limited retrieval of items to increase outfitting. The main point is that, even after the 'major' update nothing has changed except for the exponential increase in bugged items. The storyline with the Thargoids has gone stale ( or is it reasonable to assume that a technologically advanced race would just stick around to provide target practise for bored players). 400 billion star systems to explore and all players seem to want is to gain wealth/ships/weaponry faster that anyone else so which way do they want to go?

@jason 55 , I think you misunderstood his reply. Those links, I am pretty sure, are his signature....not at all related to your OP. His reply is just the single question which he asked you, that you didn't answer when you responded in length to him.

Reply now edited to show that thank you for the pointer, The original idea for this was to highlight how the game has lost it's way.

I don't know too much about what is going on but I do get the impression of tumbleweed rolling in the breeze as far as E D goes. Compare with the streaming schedule for Planet Coaster for example https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/april-streaming-schedule.507554/ and you get the impression that E D has taken an early Easter holiday.

Oh and I echo the comments about the wall of text posts. Here is a present:

OK, I was born and raised in America and to a large degree, have learned to be entitled. Though I'm retired now, I use to own three business's which gives me a bit of experience at view and observing, both sides of the coin.

The bottom line to any business is profit. Repeat customer's are very important to the success of a business, they are the bread and butter the business needs to operate a successful company. Any and all successful business is constantly attempting to acquire new customer's; New customer's are where the most profit comes from. But it's the "Previous Customer's" that keep most companies afloat.

Frontier sold us and allows us now "Previous Customer's" to utilize their game; In the process they made a profit. Acquiring new customer's allows them to make more profit. However, there are very little or next to zero profits from "Previous Customer's" (Us). In fact attempting to make "Previous Customer's" (Us) happy, actually is an expense. Free updates, patches etc etc etc may be free to a "Previous Customer" (Us), but the cost is not free to Frontier.

I'm but one who has invested over a couple of thousand hours playing ED, since its launch on the PS4; I paid $60 American dollar's for the game and using only 2,000 of the total and not the whole hours of play, works out to be about three (3) cents per hour. There are those that have invested even more time than I which would work out to even less per hour of play. In the past two years, there has been numerous "FREE" patches and upgrades. OK, the original price of $60.00 included a percentage to pay for all those patches and upgrades. But at some point, the percentage is gone. And if it were not for NEW customer's, there would be no funds for any patches or upgrades.

What other hobby in the world is as cheap as playing a video game at home? But like I stated in the beginning, in addition to being a previous business owner, I also feel entitled. So, like everyone else, I complain that Fdev should gives us MORE and doing it NOW!

OP, could you please edit your post to include paragraphs in your wall of text? I just about had an aneurysm trying to read it.

I get that you're upset about the state of some aspects of the game, but the chances of FDev addressing any of your issues goes down if they can't read your post.

There was a story line? 🤨
All I've seen so far is the Thargoids coming back and some new Non-Human USS spawn up with different stuff in it. I killed a few for sake of having it done, but else the "storyline" hasn't done much for the game in my eyes.
Oh wait, they did! They flip station switches from OK to burning, and you get fined while trying to help.
