Game is starting to crash constantely.. Again...

Hi there!

I'm really having a hard time at the moment trying to enjoy planco. About 8 months ago my game started crashing every hour or so for no reason. I had contact with Frontier support and even tho they really tried everything they could, nothing actually helped. I kind of tried to keep on playing and a few weeks later the game kind of "fixed itself" and only started crashing once every night or so. Not ideal, but atleast not so bad as it was. However, since a week or 2 i've been getting terrible crashes. At the moment it's so bad that when i load the game, everything looks good, i start building stuff where i left, 3 to 4 minutes later it just yeets me out of the game.

I keep everything updated, my system is fine (3060 Ti, 10850K, 32GB RAM). Temperatures are fine, everything works properly. I can literally play every heavy game out there on maxed out settings on 1440p and have a nice smooth experience without crashes. I tried downloading full sized maxed out parks of some of the most known and best creators and i still get playable FPS. That's really not the problem.. But i don't get what is at this point.
I followed all of the Frontier support steps on the website, send them all the files etc. as they asked me in mail. I changed the auto-save interfall a long time ago already, disabled the steam overlay stuff. Closed unnecessary background programs, deleted all the workshop stuff.. I just don't know what to do at this point. I have been working on a park now for about 300 hours on and off and it sucks that i can't finish it.

I hope one of you legends atleast could give me some tips on a few more things to try before i really give up. Thanks in advance! =)

I assume you verified the game cache by Steam (Right click on Planet Coaster – “Properties” – “Local Files” – “Verify integrity of game cache”)?

Strange that you're getting kicked out so fast. I'll get crashes on a very detailed bench, but they never seem to happen that fast. Sure seems like you've tried everything. Does the same problem occur when starting on a new bench or a much smaller park, or it's just your current project? Do you use many billboard images or videos in it?

When you crash, do you get the pop-up message asking if you want to report the crash or just cancel? If so, I always choose to 'cancel', and wait, and 99% of the time the game will start again in a few minutes...saves having to start over from the load screen anyways.

Thanks for trying to help me out!

Yes i did that indeed multiple times (verifying the game cache).

So after reading your message i downloaded MKP Grand Resort (Nimzulh i believe). Pretty big detailed park. I opened it up, first i just did some rides and walked around the park for about 10 minutes. Nothing weird.. It was pretty smooth still actually. So i opened the park and let about 3000 guests in to stress it a little bit, the game was still hitting a nice 24/26 FPS on average. So then i started building for about 20/30 minutes. Literally NOTHING happened. No crash at all..
I honestly don't get that..

My park at the moment is maybe 50% of that parks size and it's detailed but not as detailed as his. I don't have any TMTK installed at the moment, i did had i believe like 2 billboard with custom images in it but deleted those like a week ago, also deleted the images from the game folder.
At this point you would probably think my save file is corrupt, but when i first started this park, back in December somewhere and this started happening, i also send the save file to Frontier and they said it worked just fine on their systems. It's really weird...

Also to answer your question on the pop-up. 9 out of 10 times I don't get the pop-up. It just shuts itself and that's that..

Wow...how strange, huh?

Does it happen both when the park is paused and when it's not? Rides open?

I'd offer to check it on my machine, but your specs are far better than mine (i7, 16MB RAM, GeForce RTX 2040, 14MB)...

Yeah both paused and unpaused. I don't have any rides open yet also no visitors etc. Could that make any difference?Just playing in plain sandbox mode.

I mean feel free if you like to, could upload it later once i'm home from work tonight. Thanks!

I'm on Steam as wabigbear if you'd like me to take look.
Hi there! I added you on steam. Sorry, was verry busy last couple days. Finally have some more time now so I really hope i can try and sort this stuff out. Just started it up and it just crashed as soon as i started building things. So strange.

Hi, Did you check the state of your virtual memory?
I remember having a similare issue one time, and just one of my vram was dead.

Your Actual RAM.
I'll definetely check it out this evening. Altough i'm not sure if that could be it since i loaded a pretty heavy save file of a park thats much bigger then mine is. And could play it just fine. I also play other pretty heavy demanding games in 1440p and they run just fine without crashes.

But i'll have a look at it just to be sure! Thanks for the tip. What's in your opinion the best option to check if the RAM is working correctly?

Memtest86 is ok if my memory is correct.
I told you to check the RAM cause I had a similare issue. All my other games were running fine, even GTAV/Online.
And It happened that only one of my ram sticks was faulty. Since I replaced it. I only had One crash on PC and it was the day I changed my GPU.
