Game load times over five minutes

The game takes more than 5 full minutes from the time I click play in steam to the time I can join the game.

From clicking play to the launcher appearing: 31 seconds.
From clicking play in the launcher to the game appearing: 4 minutes, 18 seconds.
From the game appearing to being ready-to-play: 49 seconds.

This is Ryzen 9 3950X, 64GB Ram, 850 EVO NVMe, GeForce 3090, and 120mbit Internet connection. I have no similar issues with any other application.

What are my troubleshooting steps here? I have messed around with AppNetCfg.xml & AppConfigLocal.xml - turned off UPnP, made sure ports are forwarded, etc. - which seems to be the common solution on places like reddit. Logging is turned on, but there doesn't seem to be a lot in the logs.

There also doesn't seem to be a way to raise this with support (the support pages all just show a bunch of known Q&A, but no way to lodge a ticket), which I think may be the more appropriate place if I'm going to be posting logs.

When I started EDO this morning to seemed it took longer than usual so my first guess is FD's servers are slow this morning.

If you are on the support page you stopped to soon, do search on slow loading, select one of the provided support articles, scroll down to the bottom of the provided support articles, you will see the submit a ticket button, you won't see this button until you load the suggested fixes and scroll down, like this;

You can now see the "submit a request" button at the bottom of the page, this will take you to the next page where you can enter your tech support request, this one;

Good luck!

Presumably it hasn't always been this bad? If not, when did it change?

Yup, the UX in the support system is bad; it's needlessly difficult to find the ticket submission path. Maybe this is intentional of course.

It has always been this bad - I'm a returning player after a few years. Lots has changed in the meantime.

I'll raise this with support - thanks for pointing out the button!

Yeah I am wondering on the health of the drive, and yes, it is to complicated, but I guess they don't want people using it unless they really need to, they want a 24hour turn around and flood of tickets might cause problems for them.

You're welcome, and now if the drive is fine, you didn't by any chance save your game when installing to another drive? Are the game files definitely on the actual NVMe.

sounds like another app or process is running to me I would suspect sec software or location and hops to aws Ireland main server location
stopwatch time from cliking launch 2 min 10 sec to sat in ship for me (London)
which is about normal for me (fd direct no steam no min launcher)

I'll chase it up with support - the drive is fine (I could more extensively test to rule it out - but nothing else on the machine behaves remotely like the drive is struggling, incl. video & other disk-intensive stuff).

Will try min-ed-launcher next.

Use min-ed-launcher instead of the official launcher.
The official one insists on doing a full directx diagnostic/data collection every time you launch the game, which can be very slow depending on what components the system has installed.
Aha. I dimly recall hearing of that launcher - must give it a go.
I wouldn't call the whole launch process speedy on my own machine (probably over a minute from zero to fully running, though I haven't timed it), but dxdiag.exe only runs for a few seconds. I guess that if @Bossett were to check during a slow launch, it might be running for minutes?

Wow ok - min-ed-launcher just fixed the problem. Game launches almost immediately and lands me ready to go in like 10 seconds flat.
hmm certainly makes a difference I normally go make a scoobie snack & rum an coke b4 I plays anyways but will give it a go if it becomes a problem

whilst on the subject of time what is the fastest way of getting the weekly 400 arx cap
I find 4 high level ground conflict zones normally does it for me so about an hour?
