Game Loads. Black Screen. Game Crashes.

Took a while to get the damned thing downloaded, and when I did, I just crashes.

No reasons given, no report, nothing (although it does, annoyingly, give the option to send a report to the devs, but not produce a Local copy so I can see what went wrong).

Do we have a specific support thread for discussing/resolving these issues?

Verified the game files yet? To see if the installation was borked. PC hardware/drivers you run? Some more info could help.

Verified the files, all ok.

Hardware specs may be the issue, but I cant find anything to compare them with to get an idea of what or where I need to upgrade

CPU : 3.2 Ghz AMD Phenom II X2 550
GPU : ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (x2)
Memory : 4gb DDR II
HD : Seagate Barracuda (1.5gb)

Looks ok to me. Don't't know much about the gcard and perhaps +4gb ram would be useful.

As you cannot get in, you could try clean install.

Uninstall launcher. Delete Frontier folders from progfiles and %appdata% local and roaming. Restart and reinstall.

Before you do that though you might want to check bug forum regarding having the correct video player version installed. I seem to remember that causing a blank screen for some.

The black screen game crashes are common. Send them a ticket so they can add it to the pile.

If I am AFK for more than a few minutes I get Black Screen Of Death.

I have to then go to Task Manager to get the desktop back.

I lost a type9 and a Million C worth of Gold cargo due to this bug

At least the game loads for you. I cant even get it that far

What gcards are you guys using?

Not getting this issue on nvidia 760gtx.

GFX cards listed above

Have uninstalled , reinstalled , rebooted , still unable to load even the opening screen. Launcher comes up, I hit play , 20 seconds of black screen , "Elite Dangerous has encountered an Error"
