game not launching because of "this frontier account does not own Elite Dangerous"
I'm guessing you're using Steam. They are known for randomly "losing" their link to Frontier. That's part of why I switched all my Steam commanders to Frontier-only.
To fix this, do the following (should be the same for Epic):
1. Completely close the third-party launcher you're using for ED
2. Login to your Frontier account here: https://user.frontierstore.net/user/info
3. Unlink the third party account you're using for ED from there
4. Launch ED from the third party launcher, and it will allow you to renew the link
Your commander is stored on Frontier's server, so you will not lose anything.

i have to say that i too moved from steam and launch the game via frontier launcher with no issues (my steam sometimes got wonky with logins)

tried going steamless with just the frontier launcher?
(you know that servers are down right now for the update, right?)
Just had this happened and wanted to see if anyone ever runs into this issue too. When this happens to me, one of two things have happened:
1. Steam is in offline mode (check to see what your online status is)
2. Steam is stuck in offline and wont go online because there's a Steam update that's not being captured. Restarting Steam 1-2 times generally might result in a client update.
3. Elite received an update while I was playing and I needed to close out of the launcher to get the update, or restart Steam to get the update.
