That is not in itself a problem. This is not the future, this is our 21st century idea of the future. If the game managed to depict a realistic idea of the 33rd century we'd likely find it strange and bewildering, a bit like someone from medieval times would not be able to find anything recognisable about our century. Games are allegories. They are fairy-tales. Very different, but at the same time about a very recognisable real world.

If this game cannot accurately predict and simulate the 33rd century, then why even bother?

You mean in the same way game set in medieval times accurately simulate the medieval period....oh wait that's right they don't. People don't want to play in a simulation of the real world, it's why we play games. I would, without hesitation predict that 99.99% of people in the 33rd century wouldn't actually be spaceship pilots,. so I'll do that bit, you can have one of the other jobs. :D

You've clearly not played The Settlers. I only play games that 100% accurately simulate the worlds they depict. If it can't do that, they shouldn't bother making it.
