Game Updates?

I think one thing everyone can agree on is that although the game has plenty of content for now, it by no means is nearly as extensive as the galaxy its in. I think everyone expects more updates down the road however we have to keep in mind two things.

One, its not an MMO from a business standpoint, I doubt they would add a lot more content for free. Additionally, whatever content they do add as an expansion or a DLC would have to be designed as such that those who dont want to buy the DLC/Expansion that they game would still work.

So...

what should the first DLC/Expansion be?

Given that there is no ongoing fee for the game, it's a no-brainer that they will charge for expansions. The only major expansion we currently know about in the future is the ability to land on planets.

yeah and I think other things should come first. That said, maybe they thinking the procedural approach could have a huge impact with that expansion.

In other words, maybe its just as much effort to let people land on any planet that they want to then it is to add personal space stations.

Pilot wings is in the pipeline also... The ability to jump as a group, etc.

There will be some planetary activity... or at least we'll be able to see it from space... eventually being able to land... Here's a little something from the developer's doodles....

I've played a fair deal sofar, and even if game mechanics is pretty rudimentary, i enjoy it quite a bit.

However, playing with a friend or friends is nowhere near where it should be, so that should be the first focus if you ask me.

- Initiating group play should be more transparent. It's a pita as it is now, where initially (as a noob) you have no idea how to start it up and no way to check if you were successful.
- When grouped with a friend you should get a split on bounty hunting ships, or a split on bonds when shooting the same ship
- Finding your friend on the map should be easy (a friend button that points you to his location)
- Missions should be shareable
- Selecting a side in warzones should be group based ( ie: set by the designated group leader)
- Shooting a group member (by accident or deliberate) should not result in aggroing the authority
- Text and voice Communication with a group should be possible, not only one-on-one (and working, it's currently a hit and miss system where it's always a question whether it works at all)
- Voice communication needs to have a mic sensitivity slider in options (like teamspeak has). First and last words are cut off right now. I can't hear a bloody thing someone else says.
- Successful Interdicting a player or NPC by one of the group members should automatically bring the other group members in the same instance, given that they are in the same system (in SC).

These additional features that should have been there, or at least i would have suspected it to work that way, will contribute to better coop play.

Im currently enjoying the game immensely, but they are estimating a full year before the planetary landing expansion comes out, and whether or not Ill still be playing this game at that time and my willingness to spend money on an expansion will be purely dependent on fairly regular quality of life and content updates between now and whenever the paid expansion is ready.

There needs to be pretty significant improvement to the mission system, huge improvements on the multiplayer aspects of the game, as well as more in game tools for trading and communication.

They better not charge us early access folks for anything else. =)
We were promised planetary landings, etc.

If you bought the premium beta account ($150 I think it was) with the lifetime pass then you get all the paid DLC as its released.

If you bought the regular beta account ($75 I think it was) then you have to pay for the DLC like everyone else.
