Horizons Game upgraded, no soun d at all

Hi all,

I realise this should be in the bug section, but for some reason I am not able post in that section, so hopefully someone from FD will see it here.

My game has just upgraded, I assume to version 2.1, but not sure how I can check this.
Problem is now there is no sound at all.

I run the game on a Microsoft Surface. I have checked the master sound settings on the computer and all is Ok and other applications have sound without problem, so the problem is not with my computer.

I have no idea how to fix this, I have read some instruction in other threads of people who have similar problems about changing the audio configuration file, but I cannot locate the file.

Should I open a support ticket?

Any help much appreciated.

cheers

Hi, yeah, new accounts are somewhat restricted to stop bots spamming everywhere instantly :)

I assume you've checked the audio settings of Elite and ensured it's not muted or really really low?

They likely ship it now that the game needs it. They had to change audio APIs because a surprising lot of drivers (*cough*Logitech*cough*bluescreen*cough*) go ape when handling device exclusivity.

Just in case anyone else has the same problem, the following fixed the problem for me:

http://cdn.gulpeyrex.com/redistributables/PlanetCoaster_XAudioRedist.zip
If you extract this zip file and run the contained dxsetup.exe, let the installer complete then run Elite Dangerous again you should now have audio.

I realise this might have been posted on other threads, but in case, like me, some other Commander can't find it, it may help someone else.
You have to extract the files, 6 of them, to a desktop folder and run the .exe file from there. All files must be in the same folder.

Hope it helps.
Thanks to FD support for sorting this for me, and also thanks to all the other Commanders who have suggested possible fixes and other ways to sort this out, much appreciated.

cheers
