Hey!

So I have a cordless 360 pad that I turn off when I dont use. Sometimes I forget to turn it on when booting up ED and Im getting a error log in Bindings folder:

There where errors when loading preset file: Custom.3.0.binds
Missing devices: GamePad
This will reset ALL my custom X55 bindings as well as removing ALL gamepad entries... Frustrating as hell.
If I set custom.bindings file to Read-only, ED will create a backup every time and start using the backup instead.
Any pro tip?

Rename your bindings.

There are threads* about doing this but basically you have to change a line within the binds file too, not just rename the file. In line 2 of the file you will see "Root PresetName" - you need to change the name from custom to whatever name you want. That name is what is shown in the presets drop-down list in the Controls page.

Having done this renaming, you can always select it and it never gets overwritten by mistake, even on game updates.

BTW - don't keep copies in the same directory as it confuses the game to have more than one file with the same "Root PresetName" and this causes any changes you make to your control assignments to not be saved.
