Gameplay gripes after 48 hours.

I agree with everything except the skip idea.

IMHO the launch button should be inoperable while entering and inside the hangar and should be replaced by a "ready to launch" option on landing to turn the ship around without entering the hangar fully or committing to a launch. If not then it does need a cancel option, it is too easy to fumble an extra up or down keypress before activation keypress and press launch by accident and have no recourse but to leave the station and come back. I have done it many times.

As a beta backer, my thoughts are:
1. because this enables the interesting mechanic where the pad has not had chance to turn back, so when you come in to land it's the wrong way around and you have to land 'backwards'
2. It's *always* been starport services for me ... since beta.
3. Fly out, request docking, come back in - this is not elite handholding, if you asked to launch & change your mind then you should be made to come around
4. Yes it probably should.
5. I agree totally :D
6. I think this should be an internal upgrade - a trade logging computer, which records the prices from the stations you have visited - not available by default, upgraded versions have more storage.
7. No, this is something you should be capable of doing in your head.
8. You should have tried them in beta, they were twice as long!!
9. Not seen that happen.
10. it's useful to be able to see what commodities are selected, so no please don't do this.

Skipping real time movement in a real time game, is somewhat inconsistent with the concept of having the game operate in immediate time and space. Remember that we are not talking about cut scenes here. This is the real thing! Well... virtually real... *cough* :)

* The trade routes display on the galactic map is flimsy. A route will appear and disappear as you rotate the map.

I ticketed this(along with trade lines disappearing at random when you turn the filters on/off) back in October along with video evidence, their response was:

Hi there. This issue is currently by design, so I will resolve this ticket.

So, don't hold your breath waiting for it to be fixed.

I didn't expect a finished game and Frontier explicitly said that it will not be finished by any means yet, but I still feel like releasing it now was a horrendously bad idea. There is essentially nothing to do aside from trading, that barely yields any profit thanks to a miraculously primitive economy system (and AI traders broke it to top it off) where it painfully shows that Frontier didn't bother to get an economic advisor or they simply haven't had the time to implement anything interesting yet. USS and sitting idly by the nav beacon with an eagle or sidewinder are also some things you can do and it's not particularly rewarding when the bounties barely yield anything and all that idle time could have been spent playing a different game altogether.

No, I am not saying to dumb the game down because I am not one of those whiny kids on the forum, I am just saying that as the game stands now there was seriously little to no point in releasing it. Actually I think it resulted in thousands of lost customers if anything due to bad reputation created by people who do not realise that this is not a finished game.

I am looking forward to the moment the game gets updated with things you can actively do, rather than pointlessly wandering around and hope you can find something that is on your level and yields a decent reward (not 200 credits).

Agree with most.

Disagree with ship rotation and hangar animations.

Also possibly disagree with previous station prices. In the end if you add that you remove one element of potential gameplay. Now I haven't seen ED design docs so I honestly don't know what the outline for gameplay with trading is. It may well be an intentional policy that players should not be given accurate price data for any system they're not currently stationed at, I don't know.

Can I just add that I would like the docking aid graphic to revert back to the radar view once I've docked. I'd like to see ship activity on it when I'm parked up. A minor gripe, but a gripe non the less.

* The too/from hanger animations are all well and good, but a bit tedious after repeat #50. Option to skip, please?

Sometimes i wish i could skip parking/unparking my car on my garage, but i'd find it really wierd if my car instantly parked itself and i simply appeared in front of my house's door.

I like it the way it is and even if i get bored of it sometime i will still prefer this realism/immersion.
I loved to fly from city to city in World of Warcraft back when i played it, even if each flight was all the same path i had done dozens of times. Immersion is good but will always cost some additional time for everything you do, and i'm willing to wait it so long as it is not exaggerated (which it isn't).

* When I'm docked on the outside of a space station, why does the ship still have to be turned round 180 before launch? Why would it matter?
* The too/from hanger animations are all well and good, but a bit tedious after repeat #50. Option to skip, please?

* Why can I not use and compare the price information from the last station I was at?

?
You can make your own spreadsheet.

Station animations an option in the options screen and not a dumb down nerf, if the nerfers are listening. Not sure if it will work in multiplayer environment though.

Good points though the rest of it.

Rather than an abort launch button I would prefer an "are you sure" option for launch and for aborting missions. On a few occasions I was browsing through my transactions tab and accidentally cancelled a mission.

Just no ... seriously ... please don't do this, it would get annoying pretty fast!

Well over 200 hours in atm since premium beta, about 50 of that in Gamma post "no wipe on launch announcement", still don't feel bored, still force myself not to play too much and instead read the forum here so I don't get burned out on it.

Yes, it has issues, yes it will have to vastly improve some things but still, it feels like a very solid foundation to build upon. When taking into account the vastness of this game they really achieved something here. I have spent some time figuring out how it technically all works (on a very basic level, I'm not a dev of some sorts) and making anyhing this big with still this level of detail is an immense task.

When planetary landings arrive it will probably once again blow my mind, if not artistically ingame at least technically wise, to get it all to work.

On the docking stuff, well, yes, it takes a few seconds and sometimes annoys me a little but I think it would annoy me far more if it all just happened instantaneously.

The trading is borked atm, the UI for it can improve quite a bit, I am rather dissapointed about that because I'm an inch away of having enough for an ASP with some basic upgrades but I don't wanna deal with trading atm so sold my T6 and got a 6 mill cobra instead which I use for rep and rank missions and blast the occasional interdictor out of the sky. Sucks that my ASP project slowed down a lot, missions etc just aren't as fast as trading was, but I login and poof, it's 5 hours later, should be in bed, still in that cobra, made a little cash and still had a blast. Works for me for now.

Had a funny encounter when I dropped at a low fsd wake. A player viper and a AI competent Sidey jousting around eachother. Couldn't find bounty on any of them so decided to see how it worked out, maybe help the player if he was losing. After chasing the fight for a quite some minutes, neither of them doing much more than put a little dent on the shields I decided to kick in and let the player get the kill on the npc. 10 seconds later npc went boom, me and CMDR Pareleft had a little chat and both went our ways. Was fun!

I do seem to see very few actual players, I even went to quite a few very active regions. At most I see like one or 2 players in SC, never ever had to wait at busy outposts etc. Anyway, I'll just go find some info on that now.
