<div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>Day two of Gamescom 2016 is complete! You can watch the livestream <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/FrontierDevelopments/videos" target="_blank"><span style="color:#FFA500"><u>back on our official YouTube channel</u></span></a>, but keep reading on to find out about some of the highlights we spoke about over the two livestreams.</p><p> </p><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100%"><tbody><tr><td><p><span style="color:#FF8C00"><strong>Ship Launched Fighters – Prepare to Deploy </strong></span></p><p>Some larger vessels can be fitted out with ship hangars, allowing them to construct and deploy single seat fighters. </p><p>Low cost, stripped down and heavily armed, fighters specialise in direct support of larger vessels. Favouring manoeuvrability and firepower over defence, aggressors face an unpalatable choice: waste time and effort engaging the nimble fighter, or focus on the mother ship, risking significant damage from the fighter’s powerful weapons.</p><p>Utilising telepresence , you can launch and directly control your fighter without leaving the safety of your cockpit. Fighters are especially effective when paired with a turreted mother ship, which can hold position or follow you, continuing to attack whilst you pilot the fighter.</p><p>Using advanced technologies, you can construct fighters in your hangar; if you lose a fighter in the field you can produce a replacement – as long as you have purchased enough resources.</p></td><td><a href="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Ship.png" target="_blank"><img alt="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Ship.png" src="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Ship2.png" style="border:1px solid #ccc; height:180px; width:317px"></a></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100%"><tbody><tr><td><p><span style="color:#FF8C00"><strong>The Fighters</strong></span></p><p>There are three different fighter craft that you can purchase: the Imperial Fighter, the Federal F63 Condor and the independent Taipei. Each has comparable flight characteristics, all are a joy to fly.</p><p>Each fighter can be outfitted with a number of loadouts to match your particular weapon choice and utility. So whether you like rocking multi-cannons, plasma repeaters or beams, staying cold with heat sinks, boiling missiles with point defence, or shielding yourself in clouds of chaff, the loadouts have got you covered.</p></td><td><a href="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Ship2.png" target="_blank"><img alt="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Ship2.png" src="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Ship.png" style="border:1px solid #ccc; height:181px; width:319px"></a></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100%"><tbody><tr><td><p><span style="color:#FF8C00"><strong>Lounging Around With The Crew</strong></span></p><p>At crew lounges in ports across the galaxy you can hire the services of trained fighter pilots. Each of these stick jockeys has their own appearance, bio and combat rank. The higher the combat rank, the more credits a pilot will demand from your operating profits, but when things get ugly, that extra skill just might prove to be the difference between victory and sucking vacuum.</p><p>You can issue orders to your pilot, selecting priority targets for them, allowing them to engage at will or commanding them to fly defensively. Having a fighter pilot on-board opens up tactical options: Will you remain in the mother ship whilst they provide back up, or will you hand over controls whilst you yank and bank in the fighter?</p></td><td><a href="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Crew.png" target="_blank"><img alt="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Crew.png" src="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-Crew.png" style="border:1px solid #ccc; height:180px; width:317px"></a></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100%"><tbody><tr><td><p><span style="color:#FF8C00"><strong>Rank Up</strong></span></p><p>Not only will your fighter pilots get stuck in when battle starts, they will become more experienced each time they claim a kill, and can increase their combat rank, becoming more effective warriors. What’s more, the trust you’ve placed in them will pay off, as pilots ranking up will ask for less pay than new hires of the same combat rank.</p><p>If your ship is destroyed, any pilot on-board will be lost, along with their experience. However as one chapter ends a new begins; a hotshot ace might be waiting at the next starport...</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7glm5rbPHKxuw8GaFsCKgXB5jPNqJhdn" target="_blank"><span style="color:#FFA500"><u>See the livestream VOD on hiring crew members.</u></span></a></p></td><td><a href="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-DBOBE.png" target="_blank"><img alt="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-DBOBE.png" src="https://forums-cdn.frontier.co.uk/images/media/D2-DBOBE.png" style="border:1px solid #ccc; height:181px; width:319px"></a></td></tr></tbody></table></div>

Have you just repped the God and the creator of this forums?? Hehehe.

You'll find all the answers to yoir questions in video streams. They're all already uploaded to YT.

I approve, tell the team to go ahead.

Edit: Please ensure there are female pilots thank you. will not be impressed if the crew lounge is a sausage fest. [smile]

Brett, the official ED threads are for some reason not Stickied on the News and Updates sub-forum.

How can this be happening?

FD comms, almost always a bit wonky. Love 'em, but such random inconsistency...

Really looking forward to 2.2. I can't believe FD are making us wait until mid-October.

Season 3 when?

Day three and Day four will be set as a sticky later tomorrow and sunday. :)

Lots of fun stuff going on at Gamescom. :D

In all the info put out on day 2, the only thing I found disappointing is the fact that (a) a destroyed fighter can be too easily replaced (IMHO) & that the destruction of a fighter doesn't result in the death of the pilot. I think that there is a real danger in making Elite: Dangerous too HARMLESS if we go down that route. Being reckless with your SLF's should be a fairly costly exercise, potentially making the replacement of crew more expensive.....if you gain a reputation for getting crew killed ;).

I really do hope that the developers reconsider this in the lead up to release.

So when my ship is destroyed I manage to eject 100% of the time, but the hired pilot dies 100% of the time? That doesn't make any sense.

Thanks Bret. This is awesome information and greatly appreciated by many. It is a great reminder that FD continually strives to make ED the best of the rest and will be around for many more decades. Well done FD. Rep Rep

"The Independent Taipei" - oooh, controversial!

Yeah, it's a Taipan, a kind of snake.[Inland Taipan, one of the deadliest. Bring it]

Catching up on all the Gamescom news and videos, I can understand why the dev's were tight lipped at LaveCon 2016. Awesome work to you all :) All the major changes and the subtle ones are amazing. Really hyped for this release. Looking forward to listening to Lave Radio, Hutton orbital, Kerrash Landing and ObsidianAnt's views on all of this :) (If I missed anyone off I love your streams too), My favorites are both the ship transfer and the module store (from a game play perspective). As for everything else this art and design. All the new content to much for this post... Frontier your passion for the game shines like the pulsar I have just seen. Thank you FD Team

Great stuff incoming for 2.2. But all what i hope, is that 2.2 wont have any wheel of fortune...

Till now, even not a word on what need to be fixed... is that the FRONTIER policy, we release unfinished update ?

So, it will e nice to have some words about bellow things :

- Engineer and RNG on module update, looking at many complains on the forum when will you remove it ?
- CQC, AI to flll empty slot and by the way resolve the matchmaking unbalance issue and the waiting for players (average 15 min) ?
- POWER, when will the rank and rewards will be permanent ?

Enjoy

Can we have CQC be moved to a option in the pilots lounge so its more of a galNet multiplayer combat game than a full blown separate entity ;)
