Im not sure if i should create a new thread for this or not. But since i dont want to put the other threads off-topic i will make a new one anyway, hope thats okay [happy]
For a few years i was always in doubt to visit a gamescon-like event. It would be nice to see, but never had a real reason to go. That is untill Frontier announced they were going to Gamescom! Now i had a reason to go, and so i did!
The first thing i noticed was how insanely huge this event is! It's very easy to get lost and any guy or girl with a bit of common sense would have made sure they would know where to go to find their favorite stand. Well, guess im not that smart ... Spending quite a while looking up and down several halls to look for the Frontier stand. Just when i was ready to get out my cheat device called mobile phone i saw a dinosaur in the distance...GULPEE!!
Then it struck me how awkward this whole thing was. Im a 34 year old guy, to the best of my knowledge im mentally okay and healty. But i have never felt nervous ticklings in my stomach...for a guy in a disosaur suit!! This Planet Coaster atmosphere is really something special [happy]
When i arrived at the booth i immediatly noticed how down to earth and humble all the Frontier people are.
RCT3 was an amazing game, and with 10 years of people adding UGC this game is increadibly "complete" content wise. I always tought it would be near impossible to make a game SO good, that i would prefer it over all the content that RCT3 provides. And i know a lot of people in this genre are quite demanding and will expect a LOT from a new game.
Needless to say, Planet Coaster did just that... Personally im blown away by all the realism, the content, creativity, the whole package. And seemingly most people agree, this game seems to be -awesome-!!
Arrogance is never a good thing, but sometimes it's seen a price to pay for being succesfull. Thats why i was really surprised by their humbleness. All Frontier people i have spoken to today were thanking ME for my support. Now thats some true humbleness and class act! It's my pleasure to be a fan of this game as well as a fan of the developers for a long long time.
Ofcourse it was also very nice to meet a few people i know from the forums. Joel, Ed, Zac, Bo, Silvarret (And a few others who's names i didn't remember, shame on me [sad]) It was very cool to talk to all of you in real life!! And i hope to have the chance to do again in the future! Besides that it was a pleasure to see the great Silvarret in action in real life. (Yes, you are great at building stuff! learn to live with it[wink])
Last but not least my highlight of the day, getting 3 chiefbeefgomburgers and a hug from Bo!! [big grin]
Thanks all!!
