Gamescom, what a blast!

Im not sure if i should create a new thread for this or not. But since i dont want to put the other threads off-topic i will make a new one anyway, hope thats okay [happy]

For a few years i was always in doubt to visit a gamescon-like event. It would be nice to see, but never had a real reason to go. That is untill Frontier announced they were going to Gamescom! Now i had a reason to go, and so i did!

The first thing i noticed was how insanely huge this event is! It's very easy to get lost and any guy or girl with a bit of common sense would have made sure they would know where to go to find their favorite stand. Well, guess im not that smart ... Spending quite a while looking up and down several halls to look for the Frontier stand. Just when i was ready to get out my cheat device called mobile phone i saw a dinosaur in the distance...GULPEE!!

Then it struck me how awkward this whole thing was. Im a 34 year old guy, to the best of my knowledge im mentally okay and healty. But i have never felt nervous ticklings in my stomach...for a guy in a disosaur suit!! This Planet Coaster atmosphere is really something special [happy]

When i arrived at the booth i immediatly noticed how down to earth and humble all the Frontier people are.
RCT3 was an amazing game, and with 10 years of people adding UGC this game is increadibly "complete" content wise. I always tought it would be near impossible to make a game SO good, that i would prefer it over all the content that RCT3 provides. And i know a lot of people in this genre are quite demanding and will expect a LOT from a new game.
Needless to say, Planet Coaster did just that... Personally im blown away by all the realism, the content, creativity, the whole package. And seemingly most people agree, this game seems to be -awesome-!!

Arrogance is never a good thing, but sometimes it's seen a price to pay for being succesfull. Thats why i was really surprised by their humbleness. All Frontier people i have spoken to today were thanking ME for my support. Now thats some true humbleness and class act! It's my pleasure to be a fan of this game as well as a fan of the developers for a long long time.

Ofcourse it was also very nice to meet a few people i know from the forums. Joel, Ed, Zac, Bo, Silvarret (And a few others who's names i didn't remember, shame on me [sad]) It was very cool to talk to all of you in real life!! And i hope to have the chance to do again in the future! Besides that it was a pleasure to see the great Silvarret in action in real life. (Yes, you are great at building stuff! learn to live with it[wink])

Last but not least my highlight of the day, getting 3 chiefbeefgomburgers and a hug from Bo!! [big grin]

Thanks all!!

Im sorry!!! Would have been very cool to meet you as well!

Yeah it would have been cool to meet you too. I just didn't have enough notice to get a flight by the time I knew Frontier were going to be there, otherwise I would've probably gone! I'll hopefully try and go to something in the future though if they're at anything again [big grin]

Thank you Vampiro for your wonderful story. I fully stand with you with everything you have said. The Frontier Team is SO NICE! They're a bunch of super lovely and humble people, thanking us for our support, while they deserve so much credit for making Planet Coaster the game of our dreams! That's right, Planet Coaster is amazing and shaping up to be a fantastic game that will give players an enormous amount of possibilities to create stunning theme parks. It's like SUPER LEGO! (that's what Zac and I agreed upon) [big grin].

It was great to meet members of this truly amazing community, like Chris Sawyer (the other one), Silvarret, De-Lady-signer, Rudi, Jinatha and also you Vampiro.

I have long since run out of words to describe my love for this game, Planet Coaster, it's community and the awesome and super lovely people of Frontier that are making this dream come true. I've met with Zac, Bo, Ed, Dale, Richard (Newbold) and Andy (Fletcher), who are just like the rest of the team all truly amazing [heart].

(sorry if this seems too much 'truly amazing', but I've run out of other words) [wink]

Excellent posts by Vampiro and Joel, certainly sounds like it was fantastic atmosphere at Gamescom! A great game, and a great community [happy]

(I wonder if I can make EGX?)

That's really nice posts there, guys. I've never been to any event like this, and I too would love to go. Sadly I missed this, but I've got my tickets for EGX, so I can't wait for this [happy]

Hopefully I can meet the team there, and hopefully even some people from the forums. [wink]

I don't think the team are going to be at EGX other than on the stage for their developer conference. I asked previously and they said there will be no Frontier stand this year.
