Gaming Headset for ED

More questions! :)

Am curios as to what headphones people are using with ED. My setup back home consisted of a surround sounds system, BKGamer, USB Cobra headset. It took a lot of messing about to get the headset, BKGamer and surround sound all working at the same time, in fact I think most of it was down to luck. I'd like to replicate the setup here in the UK

Could anyone give some advice on some good gaming headphones, also how are you getting sound into the headphones and a signal to the speakers and transducer.

From memory my USB headset was plugged in as normal, surround sound was plugged in as normal into the sound card, a Y splitter was used on the Subwoofer jack, one connection went to my sound system, the other was connected to the Butt Kicker gamer. Is there a better way to get it all working?

Cheers

I use speakers myself, but as I understand it, you can use Voicemeter Banana to split your sound to the headphones and transducer. There should be plenty of YouTube vids on this.

As Dogbite has said Voicemeeter is just brilliant at getting all these audio devices working together. Best bit it is FREE, although i did donate as it solved a really tricky issue for me of getting my Rift and BK going together.

Just remember to make the alteration in the rift audio settings to make rift output to Windows Default (which BTW will be voicemeeter)

I'm using the Razer Man-o-War, great headset&mic
I use voice attack, & no issues at all.
I bought it to replace the Corsair Void, which failed after two months. The software it came with was rubbish too, in my opinion.
The last three products from Corsair I've bought, two have failed! I would never buy another Corsair product again.
Hope that is of some help.

Kingston Hyper X Cloud 2 is great. I have nothing to compare it to but some of the reviews I watched before buying said it was comparable to headsets costing up to twice as much. Take from that what you will - it's good anyway.

It's too bad Corsair (like a lot of big companies) has it's fingers in so many pies. This often leads a company to get involved in products that might not be their forte. I wouldn't write them off as a supplier though. My liquid cooler, ram and one of my SSDs are all Corsair and are great, solid products. They are not the kind of company I think of first when it comes to headphones. Then again, I use a full room surround system so have no recommendations as far as headsets go.

I can recommend Voicemeeter as well. I watched a handful of youtube videos and after that, i was able to send audio to my headphones and a modified signal (with higher frequencies cut off) directly to the transducer.
You can even boost the signal for your output of choice, so you can change the headset volume without messing with the transducer oomph. Voicemeeter supports all import options, so it doesnt matter where you plug in the headphones, may it be USB, soundcard or onboard audio.
And the best is, the software is totally free. Download it here: http://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm

I bought a headset when I started using EDtracker.
I normally do not like to wear a headset while gaming, but EDtracker makes it totally worth it. EDTracker is a game changer.

I bought the Senheiser Game One.
It has comfortable soft fabric cushions that are not sweaty.
It is an open system. I hate being closed off from the rest of the world.
I plug the headset and the attached microphone into my Creative Speakerset, Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II 2.0

Thanks for all the tips everyone, the beast has arrived! :D (Feels like Christmas!) I'll start shopping for headphones. Unfortunately the PC is saying windows is not activated :-/ plus it is only detecting the SSD, the 2TB main drive doesn't seem to show up.. Anyway, glad to be back in VR, it has been waay too long!

Cheers

Press windows key + R, type "diskmgmt.msc" in the box.

Then select your 2TB drive from the list and right click on it, then select 'Initialize Disk' ... Then select GPT and OK. Right click on the new disk and select "New Simple Volume" follow the directions, iirc most of it is auto filled anyway. Dont worry if the new maximum size less than 2TB - all disk are like that, something to do with formatting and partition size. Then, finally, format the new drive. Theres no need to change anything there, just type in a name if you want. All done.
