Wow, I wish that my download was as quick as yours. After an hour it has nearly reach quarter distance - 0.2Mb/s max and usually 0.04Mb/s but have seen it flash up with a few numbers in between.
PS I heard that if you lot stopped downloading for an hour or so, I could get mine done quicker and one fewer person means that your download will take less time (about 10s) so it is worth it

Yes, I've got the same. And accessing the forums is extremely slow too. (Ping times to ec2-79-125-0-5.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com are around 3300 milliseconds.)

You lucky people! Mine gets about half way and stops. To get it going again-ie-reinstall the files it has already managed to download before stopping again -requires a full reboot every time. I have given up after 5 attempts.
I can imagine that it will be a similar story on 16th

That's a bad idea because DNS changers and VPNs will be used by everyone to flood the first released time zone,
Well I have been downloading for over 4 hours and it is now after 1am so there might be a few other people in the UK just leaving it to run overnight.
I think you have been a little unlucky. I started my download about 4 hours ago and it took a little under 1 hour. I'm in London on a slow as ADSL line.
I didn't mean that everyone can download from servers from a specific timezone only but the launcher will know what time zone you are in and therefore only let those accounts from the correct timezone download it from any server that is not stressed so to start with Australia and New Zealand start to download from Japanese servers and also from US servers etc but European people can't, even if they tried to download from Australian servers. That should mean that things are spread over a greater time period but also means that some people get the game sooner than others but I prefer that compared with having such a slow download time (I suppose that they could also say that no-one can play until an hour after everyone has had a chance to download the game so that everyone can start playing at the same time but also means that there will be a period where noone can play).

Im at just over 50% downloaded now after 2 hours with a 55meg down connection. All other patches/updates so far has only taken between 10 and 20 minutes. This SUCKS lol.
It's a big update?!? Two new ships and some code fixes?! Considering FDEV's line on things with most stuff sitting server-side, I fail to see how a small patch like this take many hours to complete. I'm at around 70% and it's been 2.5 hours. I'd hate to see what it would be like with a genuinely large update. You can't tell me that 2 new ships and a bunch of code fixes should take longer than it does to download a 20GB game from Steam/Origin/UPlay. If this is genuinely a large patch, they need to seriously take a long look at why such a small amount of content needs to be that big.
