Gas giant "Laika"

I recently visited the HIP 1254 system - an orange giant about 650 LY below Sol - and discovered that the innermost planet (a hot Class III giant which looks visually more like a IV or V) has the non-standard name "Laika". You can verify this without even visiting - it's how I got the idea to look there at all - by searching for "Laika" on the map.

Other than this, there are 6 HMCs and another gas giant, all with the expected "HIP 1254 n" names. There was no sign of habitation - no signal sources, and certainly no contacts or stations, either in the system generally, or near Laika itself.

Does anyone know why it has this name? Has anyone found other named planets out in the void?
