Gas Giants - what's worth looking for?

To answer the necronmancer: Glowing Green Giants are rare, but well-documented. You can even find them using the Codex, as it lists one (per region) of each variety of GGG. Sometime after 2017 when this thread was made, GGGs attained official in-game recognition and their own special planet descriptions in the system map.
There's one not too far from the Bubble, but it's not really all that green. The most spectacular ones are thousands of LY away.

...Actually I was just browsing the 'exploration' main thread a bit earlier today, and this topic caught my eye!...so thanks @Kailoren
Water Giants........I've recently within the last day arrived back in the bubble from an exploration trip, hadn't realised that water giants were a bit on the elusive side. I discovered and mapped a couple, one of 105 earth masses and one of 23 earth masses. I wonder how large or small they get? 
I haven't (i don't think) come across any green gas giants though unfortunately.

I found a 5 LS wide ring once. At least that's what it said on the map, coz the ring wasn't actually visible in gameOversized ring systems are more than enough to catch my attention, that's for sure.
And of course, I'm working on trying to iron out a technique for hunting down helium-rich gas giants so I go out of my way to look for those as well.
I logged a bug report on it, but it expired. Obviously.
It was discovered back in 2015, and the game didn't have the journal yet, it didn't log systems at the time. So no, unfortunately none of that would be possible.
Glowing Green Giants - The Definitive List
Most gas giants, even those which are classified as "life-bearing", are not particularly rare - about one system in ten seems to have a life-bearing one, with either "water-based life" or "ammonia-based life". They're so common that Universal Cartographics do not pay any premium for them at all...
I was wondering if you can give any insights into how you would have plotted your routes back in 2015 for instance there is a large Nebula between the system you tagged up in the conflux and the Hyponia permit lock. Would you have visited that nebula on the way?
Would you have used economic routes or your biggest jump range?
Would you have tried to avoid specific star classes or been heading for specific classes?
Are the body types you didnt scan?
Basically anything that might help us pick up the trail
