Gathering Materials for new FSD Booster

Normally I don't mind collecting materials most as you know you can collect just pottering about doing your usual missions, I don't even mind driving around planets looking for elements, but since the update patch where you now have to scan that bloody guardian data point to get the data for the unlock forget it, I have never in all my years of playing grind fest RPG's\MMO's come across a frustrating boring mechanic that has to be repeated so many times just to unlock a item

I feel you. I will probably still go and farm some guardian mats for the more useful modules like the FSD boost, but this is some next level kind of grind and in no way rewarding after the first unlock. I'm so glad I've still got a sufficient number of blueprints from when scanning obelisks sometimes rewarded them too.

Guardian fsd boost? Isn't there a power plant and some weapons? What's this Bout fsd?

FD added new stuff to the guardian tech brokers, people were especially hyped about an "fsd booster" and rushed to get it, but:

- it's an optional module and not a utility; the largest one (size 5) ups your jump range by 10ly (yay?)

- its downside is that in its current iteration it more than doubles your fuel consumption

- FD doesnt seem to have bothered to test it because it doesn't work (no jump because fuel consumption over limit), so they removed it again for debugging

I've played mmo's with far more grind than this game!

Indeed. Excessive grinding seems to be a central part of most if not all MMOs. Guess it's just the nature of the beast... no developer in the world can add content as fast as players can consume it, so there's no other choice than adding some kind of repetition to keep the players busy.

Getting things in ED is pretty quick and straightforward compared to many other MMOs.

LOL I wish I had more from when the bug was there I had 3 of the module data before they patched it out, just done two runs and that's my lot I think I get to a more relaxing grind than this ruin

Seems to me that FDev is using the wrong genre template for ED.

It appears that they went with the typical MMO gear/farming/grind thingy,
Instead of a more sensible open world adventure game framework with side missions and a map riddelded with content.

They are remaking Everquest in space, instead of inventing Skyrim in the stars.

I'm so glad that when I had 4 blueprints I decided to grind 4 more "just in case", before that module even dropped. Then again, those blueprints are still in my hold, won't spend them before I'm sure that Booster works in a way it's worth spending them.

I had some fun trying to optimise my base run to get the modules quicker. It reminded me of my time when I was go-kart racing. Training on the course, making turn after turn until it took as Little time as possible. Except noone was Shooting at me at the same time. In that aspect, the "grind" involved here is even more thrilling than racing :D

That being said, I'm not sure I would stand doing this 30 or more times (for unlocking all the Guardian modules).
