GCI (Gnarler) Improvements

Hi everyone, just wanted to quickly suggest some features for the GCI's (Gnarler). First off could we get thin wooden planks in the middle of the track like most modern day GCI's have. Also, I know this probably isnt the biggest thing on Frontiers plate right now but could we get classic GCI catwalk railings (same as wooden coaster but with three wires through them). Lastly could the default color of the coaster be set to the new wood color (brownish-yellow). Heres you can see I circled the things that need to be added to the GCI's.

Hmm, what would all the additional planks and wires help, if the coaster doesn´t make it back to the station?
The friction problem really needs to be adressed!!!

I completely agree with the OP. Currently the GCI coaster is just the regular woodie with GCI trains. Like in the pictures above you can clearly see GCI woodies have different track. It also looks like the track of GCI's is a bit smaller than the regular woodie track we have in game. You can see the trains are a bit stretched.

But you are absolutely right, they can make it as realistic looking as they want, it still will be unusable in most cases because of the friction.

I am surprised if not a bit shocked to read that. Frontier went on record to defend the "new tracktype for different trains" mess, stating that the difference in friction, gravity, g-force calculation and ride rating are justified to make a new coastertype instead of implementing just a dropdown for train design. And now it seems they couldn't be bothered to actually implement the required differences and yet we are expected to rebuild our coasters to use the new trains. Poor show.

Also, yes I am missing those wires since day one. They are truly icing the cake and I was quite impressed when NoLimits 2 did include them. Speaking of wires, PC's Boomerang doesn't even have a visible cable attached at all to the most vital element, the backwards pullcar. So yeah.

Hmm good point. Personally I am not really bothered if the dimensions aren't exactly the same as in real life, it's a game after all and it's barely noticeable anyway. But it would be great if the GCI would become more, you know, GCI. [tongue]

I have already decided that when I get back home I will see if I can find these values in the game and change them myself to see how exactly it works. CheatEngine is a wonderful tool!

I actually don´t think that the track width is smaller on GCI rides (if that is what you mean). There have been many cases where coasters that originally ran PTC trains were retro-fitted with Millennium Flyers (Gwazi, Ghostrider). So I guess the track-gauge is the same.

You're probably right. It was probably the perspective of the pictures they showed during the streams that fooled my eyes. [tongue] I have been on holiday since the 1.3 patch release so haven't actually experimented with the GCI coaster yet so maybe I should refrain myself from criticizing too much! [haha][haha][haha]
