Geez. we're not exactly drip fed are we.....

Got invite from Felicity Farseer YAY!

I'm always happy to help a fellow explorer. A marker for my location has been added to your galaxy ma, so come see me and lets discover how I can help you.]

'YAY' I thought...
'Begeezuz, that's 34 jumps away!' I thought...
'Ach well, it'll be worth it.' I thought.

So I make the trip to meet her. Land on the planet (not done that in while ). Try to say hello...

3 youtube tutorials later, I find engineers in right ship console.....

If only the old hag had mentioned in her email that I should check my ship console or even that she wanted me to bring a META-ALLOY with me.....

Surprised you hadn't looked at that tab of the ship console ahead of time just out of curiosity. First thing I did when I started playing was poke around through all the various consoles and buttons.

Long way to get those meta alloys from Deciat too iirc, but you were right about it being worth it! Once you get your FSD pumped up with engineering all of the other engineers will be fewer jumps. :)

I agree with you though, it's goofy that she won't talk to without the meta alloys but doesn't mention it when she 'invites you' to visit. It is like being sent an invitation to a party without them telling you it's a Black Tie event. I got an invitation to an event once that was at a restaurant that required a tie and jacket...but they didn't mention it in the invite. Was very annoyed when I arrived. :-/

Invitations?

In Darwin, where I live, when you get an invite to a Parliamentiary function, they specify “Territory Rig”.

They actually want you to wear closed shoes, long pants and a collared shirt; but anyone who knows Territorians will tell you that “Territory Rig” is a BinTang t-shirt, stubbies, and thongs.

Don’t even ask me about an “Invitation To France”

A French letter with “come” in it.

Especially don't ask why the rig includes more than one set of underwear!

Welcome to the engineering rabbit hole. I found Inara's engineer's section to be very helpful. It will tell you exactly what you need for every blueprint and the engineer's requirements to unlock. That way you can view all the requirements before you set out.

This might be a side effect of the more rapid progression for new players. Fair point though, checking the unlock requirements could be better telegraphed with a hint that the info is in the right hud panel.
