GeForce Drivers 384.76 and ED Frame Rates

All,
Not sure if anyone else has seen this, But I updated the Drivers today to the 384.76 version, and the frame rate in ED dropped from +/- 150 to +/- 35 :(
rolled back the drivers to the 382.53 Version and the FPS is back up to +/- 150

Good advice. I had this issue in triplewide a week ago with both Elite and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. On alt-tab Elite would hit 110 FPS at 5760x1080 but go to 30 FPS when it had focus. Rolled back to 376.09 and it got working properly again.

Nvidia has some bugs to iron out, that's for sure. I don't think AMD is pressuring them hard enough!

I am not seeing this with the exact same driver version. I use Riva Tuner to limit the frame rate to 60 at all times (beyond what my screen can display, more frames are just useless load on GPU) and the frame rate is stable at 60 fps (1920*1080, Ultra Settings with 1.5x SMAA on GTX 980, Windows 7 64-bit). Did you try if the issue changes between full screen and borderless window?

Isn't that driver that caused major system crashes when you tried to run Watch Dogs 2? I avoided it for that reason.

Just use adaptive vsync, assuming your monitor is 60hz that is.

I have the same exact issue, thank you for the info about the old driver i will try it out. I have also made a support ticket about this.

System Specifications;

i7 7700k (4 cores, 8 threads; 4.5Ghz)
Corsair 16GB 3200MHz RAM (X.M.P.)
Nvidia GTX 970
Mobo; Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon

I rolled back to these Geforce drivers you mentioned (from the latest Geforce drivers) and I have not noticed any gain or loss (all same settings and clocks); I also did a clean uninstall and installation.

I have 62-78 FPS in a Coriolis Station on Ultra settings at 1.25x Super Sampling. Dips to 52+ if using 3rd party post-processing shaders.

What system are you running?

if your going to try them out i would suggesty you install the hotfix driver - http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/geforce-384-80-driver-download.html 384.80

on Ocuk forums its a mixed bag, seems if you can get your current driver removed cleanly and install the new driver they are running well.
Some who have updated to them via the install over the top route seem to have had more issues, a lot of people suggest using DDU and then install new driver, may work better for some.

as i posted in another thread, and posted just above me now

I was really interested in this because I also installed 384.76 and my frame rates were low. So I uninstalled the driver with DDU and did a clean install of 382.53. Sadly, my frame rates did not improve (which is to say they remained low). I have a 1070 and push the settings as high as I can without judder or lag. I can significantly improve the frame rates when I lower the settings, but then ED is not a pretty. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too. :)

(P.S. Note some players are referring to 2D. I'm referring to VR frame rates. With 2D I easily get 100+).

I'm one of those having no problems with the drivers. I'm actually running ED in 3D, meaning my framerates will be divided by 2 (one for left eye, one for right eye). Even so, I'm getting over 140 fps in 3D mode, and about 300 fps in standard 2D mode.

Inside station the fps does drop but not much.. around 70 odd in 3D mode, over 120 in normal 2D mode.

Do you happen to play in Borderless mode? If so, switch to Full Screen. It's fixed the issue for me.

Reported it as a bug, but perhaps this is driver issue rather than game's?

Playing in FS mode is very inconvenient and I hope we will get a fix one way or another... With the amount of 3rd party tools we need to play the game in a convenient way, Bordeless mode is a must really.

im curious why its inconvenient? i only play full screen (i never have problems like this thread btw im just curious) and alt tab a lot to post on forums during long SC or to check stuff and emails when docked.

Because I use 2 screens and quite often I need both game and 3rd party tool or some website on screen at the same time. Plus it takes longer for the game to get minimised and maxismised again.

ahh now i see thanks for the info. i could probably play on 2 screens if i halve my fps by dropping my graphics settings. thats the downside of a laptop - i COULD put a tv on the HDMI connection but...

My PC is running as per normal with 384.76. I always use DDU to clear completely the old drivers. And install Nvidia drivers without GeForce experience.

System specs encase anybody is interested.
