Geforce Now CMDRs - regular frame rate drops?

I'm playing on GFN ultimate and when I view the in-game FPS counter, every few seconds it drops from 60 to 50 and then back. It's absolutely regular, and it does it all the time, even in the settings menu, and even when showing the EDO opening video. It was fine until a few days ago so it coincided either with U15 or with a GFN update, both of which happened recently. It's not a network issue as there are zero packet or frame drops, and it does it when I am sitting looking at a blank settings menu.

In game it translates to stuttering every few seconds. Oddly, the GFN stats report a spike in in-game frame rate just after it drops but they do not report the drop.

Dont have ultra sub... so wont waste time with the 4K feed... 1080 feed fine as long as i dont get a 3000 series GPU...
there worse than the 2000 aka 2080 version...
The game does not obey frame rate setting still untill you are passed the menus and in game in ship... The geforce now server frame rate stats allway goes ga ga untill after you click continue and are out in ship... The overlay goes nuts all the time..

It always does the same thing regardless of where I am in the game - menus or in-game.
Then its likely just the server farm location your connecting to...
You can Manually try a forced connection to another server... and see if you get another different 4000 or 3000 GPU... and see if the issue goes away...
With the New "update" there may be more active users for that server farm...

I fired up the game last night for the first time in a week or so and noticed a slight graphics stutter sometimes when emerging at a star at the end of a jump. Not every jump, but enough to be annoying. Did something happen with update 15? That's the only difference since it was running smoothly.

I haven't had this happen before. GeForce RTX 4090, i9 13900KF, 32GB DDR5, 3840 x 2160 windowed, VR Ultra

i ran U15 few sessions from the office via Geforce Now, works even better than U14. sharper graphics and smoother FPS. I'm on middle-tier, not ultimate.

but for the last few hours I've been stuck on an error. can't even start the game.

Ive not installed windows 10 may update yet so its still working lol... Ive been avoiding that forced install... since tuesday...

Using a different server has helped. It's not a network issue, because it doesn't do it on Windowed or Borderless mode. So it's apparently a hardware issue at EU West.

Does anybody know the default graphics settings on the middle tier ? Is it "ultra" ? I have seen some stuttering today on a big LED TV and played around with the settings, but I am not sure what setting I came from. TY

Whatever my issue was Nvidia fixed it.

Re the default settings - not sure - I assumed it would select them based on hardware.

I had also noticed a lot of stuttering recently when on-foot or using mouse headlook in the cockpit. I think this was due to input lag - it would extrapolate your mouse movements then correct when it got more data later. It only happened when other people in the house were streaming, even though I have loads of bandwidth. I guessed it was the BT Smart Hub not being up to the job so I bought a better one - and it worked. Smooth as butter. Next job - wired ethernet.

Its not all Ultra its only High on some settings by default. It will be a latency processing default set by frontier. As the services has the free tier 2070 GPU the settings are for the free tier GPU. you can manualy change it and keep the changes if you have a paying for tier... but the service will switch GPUs on the users.
So for example 2080 GPU for lowest lag. but then select 3060 GPU for a boost but risk packet loss. So GPU detect is disabled in the game.

Ah, ok - more complex than I thought ! Will go for the „high“ preset under graphic quality then instead of „ultra“. Also I will disable FSR and set supersampling to „x1“.

Came here to say 1Gbps wired connection makes a massive difference when using GFN in 4k. I think because wifi is only half duplex, my control inputs had to compete with the 4k video stream coming down, and it wasn't consistent so I got input lag, stuttering on-foot and sticky buttons in the UI. But with a wired connection, it's all smooth as butter and responsive as.. something very responsive.
