Horizons Generators - What do they power?

Hi,
I have a few questions regarding generators:
1. What does the 'main' generator within the base walls power? If I destroy it, will it disable some guns?
2. Are some guns powered by generators while other guns don't need generators and thus can only be powered down if I destroy the guns themselves?

Thanks!

some power the main base, lights etc... some power the guns, .... some the red lazer doors..... all the kinds of bases are different.
Be warned! if the guns go down because you hit the generator then they may come back in 5-10 minutes with no way to shut them down again.
Each base is a puzzle.
That one in the picture is a hard one. My group took failed mission after failed mission before we could crack it.
Good times! Guts and glory soldier!
The puzzle is hard and it will depend on the mission you get.

If there's only one generator, the base will have no power after you destroy it, so everything shuts down except the skimmers/stingers and any support ships. Some stations have more than one generator.

From a video I've seen, Mines are affected by gravity and your movement. Coming to a complete stop over your target and dropping mines should work. The video in question had a player stuck in a canyon and unable to move. His wing tried Pulse Lasers and couldn't touch him but the Mines detonated and inflicted damage.

Thanks for the responses but this is still a mystery to me.
For that particular base in the OP picture, I took out all the SRV turrets then went around exploring the base. I couldn't find any power source powering the anti-air guns, is that possible? Are they self-powered so the only way to take them down is to destroy the actual guns or am I missing something?
I found a network relay called 'emplacement access terminal' which when I accessed it it said something about taking control of turrets but when I flew by they still shot at me and so did the few ground to ground turrets when on my SRV.

hey alex, what was the mission you were doing?
1. it is possible that some AA turrets do not need power at this base.
2. it is possible that it timed out and they came back on line.
3. The AA blow up good with some dump fire missiles.

for that base i land, dismiss ship, go in and do the mission then drive out 5 km and recall ship.

You can destroy the anti-ship batteries but they come back very quickly, so it's mostly pointless to do so. Some of them are powered by generators in proximity to the turrets, but not all.

I just concentrate on the anti-SRV defenses, then land and roll in unopposed.

The mission is to destroy skimmers. I know how to finish the mission but I take a lot of beating every time so am trying to find a way to disable the turrets. From what you say, I think on this base the turrets are self powered.
