PvP Genuine PvP question needing an Answer.

Hi You PvP'ers, i am not a dedicated PvP'er by any stretch of the imagination, but when in the right ship, ie one of my combat ships, i will when interdicted, try to defend myself without high waking, so this leads me to my question please.

I was in my Vette last night and this morning at the CG (Run) and on my way to the HR when an Cmdr in a FDL interdicted me, so with a full ammo load, and a handy fighter manned i decided to defend my honour, we dueled some and i got rid of his shields.........How many SCB did this guy have :eek:. So his hull is sinking, my shields are still up but only on one ring, at 13% hull he high wakes out.....!

Question:

Is this considered in the PvP world a Victory?

This happened this morning again, different Cmdrs, this time a FDL and a Clipper. Killed the FDL and the clipper High waked being chased by my NPC Fighter. Again same question?

Thank you, i did get a buzz, i must admit, but what a waste of time PvP is. For the FDL kill i got a 1005 Cr, and both times my repair bill was like over 177k, plus ammo, plus maintenance! If nothing else this PvP malarky is a rich man's game. (Game Rich!)

Well, in some circles of PvP High Waking is considered on par with cheating :D For me, I would definitely call it a victory. Well done!

You basically experienced one of the biggest issues with emergent PvP; unless anyone wants to die, they pretty much won't. Shield strength inflation is the biggest issue, and FDev haven't managed to change it in a way that makes most players happy it seems.

FDL would have most likely 2 SCBs. But number of SCBs is not all what determines this ship fighting quality - he had advantage of speed, and maneuverability.. it's all about using your advantages. I bet the fighter you had helped you greatly because it diminished FDLs qualities.

Yeah.. you can pat yourself on the back. NPC fighter is a part of the game now, so weapon like any other.. it's still your win.

Oh Yes the lil ole NPC sure did her job well. Considering she is only a 'Expert' (lost my dangerous one to a PvP kill on me in my T9). Not sure i would have won with out her as the both FDL's i encountered where chaffing and whilst my gimbals where stopped during these chaff periods, the NPC fixed beams kept the pressure on the FDL's.

Welcome to the club OP, and congrats on your victories.

If one interdicts a trader for the kill and the trader high wakes out, that's just an unsuccessful kill attempt. If someone interdicts you for a ruck and they high wake out...yeah, don't worry mate. It's them that have to live with the shame.

That and the lack of reward, and the lack of bounty hunting tools, and insufficient administration of CLing retribution...

You won.

The low waking thing is only to provide a bit more of a challenge. And yes people using heavy duty skill boosters loadout (6 shield booster + prismatic FDL) and high waking at 2 rings of shield are shamed.

Excellent work on defeating him! I pvp regularly and can say easily that there is no shame in high waking. It is a completely legitimate tactic when the odds are not in your favor. You made him high wake and that awards the victory to you. It would have been dishonorable for him to use the 15 second timer or combat log. Now If you can LOW wake on a opponent when you are getting bested I would consider that a draw. It's usually used for "Maximum Disrespect".

By the way if you ever want a friendly spar, hit me up in game!

If the other player runs away, it is a win.

If they high wake away, it is an extra bonus.

If this is what I think it was, I'm pretty sure the clipper low waked. If the clipper did high wake, i'm gonna yell at him. And since the cmdr in the FDL attacked you, he fought it out until the death. Honor sorta thing.

Oh, and in that fight you were getting a Cobra Kai assist. You might not have noticed the bomber couriers buzzing around.

That encounter was being streamed on twitch.

LOL Wasp0 yes it is considered a victory, and yes I was the second FDL that you killed.. I attacked you and you fought Honorably, so I chose to not wake out and allow you the kill. Oh and the Clipper with me didn't highwake, he low waked.
Yeah you're right, there is no financial gain from PvP unfortunately, not even from piracy.. but oh well, the fun is it's own reward. It is a rich man's game, and the 9m rebuy screen you sent me to is testament to that :D

Thank you my 'Friend' i accept your appreciation. Like i said i did get a buzz out of this encounter, and to be honest there is something about a PvP encounter, just not your bounty :) .

I was on about the FDL this morning that interdicted me High Waking' not your wing clipper, i know he low waked as i was concentrating on him till he jumped, then sought you out. My little fighter kept you busy?

I had NO Idea i had a Cobra helping me, how can you see so much in PvP combat, there is nso much going on, keeping my ship fighting, keeping your two ships in my sights, looking at heat, looking at my fighter status WOW i only knew we where being watched by a Cutter and one other, and i remember the txt message coming through saying whos the bad guy here, i thought if he jumps in i am going to die.

I have NOTHING against PvP and like i said, i actually got a kick from our encounter.

I shall watch out for your stream and pop on and rub some salt in....In a friendly way of course :).

Thanks for the Video link, i was brilliant to relive the fight. I was not even aware of the Cobra help, but there was a combat Clipper and a Combat FDL attacking me ;). I was only aware of my fighter helping me.

For context: it was me helping Wasp0 during his fight where he took Brap's FDL. I was keeping the clipper busy. I might have the video. Kudos for you to keep on fighting and for Brap to take it all the way. It was great fun.

Yes nice to meet, and having watched the Video kindly sent to me by another Cmdr who has posted in this thread, (Not sure if we can mention Cmdr names, but you know who you are and i thank you for the PM). I understand now what happened and the help you gave me. Thank you !

As an after thought went back in to the HazRes again tonight not looking for another fight but to get some more bounties for the CG, when i got attacked again not by same Cmdr, but a Conda this time. Boyed by last nights buzz, i thought i'll have another go here, after all it's only a single conda this time!

Got my bottom smacked well and truly and shared the Rebuy screen!! Still had a buzz when fighting, but showed my PvP lacking skills. Oh well My PvP experience was good while it lasted. Met up with this cmdr after and had a bit of a chat. Some of you PvP'ers are actually very nice :) :).

I think in this situation PvP in itself was the winner, we all had fun so there were no losers.. well except for the guys that either ran or died lol
I've lost a lot while having fun in PvP (1,600,000,000cr total rebuy in less than a year)
