Horizons Geological reaserch

I know that gaysers or fumaroles can be found looking for very small circles on your scanner,
but which are the most geological active areas on a planet? Plains? Bottom of canyons? Mountains? Cracks?
Or they are simply random?

Depends. They do seem to appear along the signs of tectonic activity. (Sharp canyons, etc) But I did encounter some that were just sitting in the middle of nowhere, too.

Also according to the theory, water/steam ones should be more active during

the daylight, while lava tend to raise during the night, when the temperature differences on the surface and in the mantle are larger.

And don't rely on the scanner. You are more likely to find them by the good old Eye™ 1.0
