Get rid of AI pirates or change their threat level

Sick of every bubble station having pirates at them that knock you out of fsd. I deleted all my cargo and tossed the bays and no data or anything they want and they still harass me. What a waste of time that is.

They're pretty easy to deal with once you're used to them. Just slow down, let them catch you, beat the interdiction, and fly safely to the station as normal.

You're not wrong, though. The problem that you are subconsciously detecting is the terrible NPC spawning algorithm they use. Want me to tell you what it is? I can do it in about two sentences.

Does Target have cargo? If so, spawn pirate behind them.

... that's literally it. It's kind of sad.

It's especially annoying when you got a message about someone having heard of your cargo, when you mined that cargo yourself, and only jumped out of the ring about 30 seconds ago.

I'd love it if they would integrate the trading detection system in the Pirates, somehow. You know how, if players have been trading between two systems, you can go on to your map, and the trade routes will show up as curving colorful lines? It would be great if pirates started showing up wherever this happened, looking for whatever commodity is being traded. But, if you go to a system that hasn't had much trade recently, it would be mostly devoid of pirates.

That would be nice, and would feel realistic.

Agreed that would be nice, they should hunt the right people lol. They are easy to deal with yes but its still a waste of time. No loot, just circle around for a bit then go about your day lol.

I don't know why people experience this sort of thing. I can load up on half a dozen delivery missions in a low sec system, travel through different sec level systems, and sometimes don't see a single pirate. Sure, on occasion i might get a couple after me, the mission descriptions do usually say i'll be attacked, but quite often is clear skies for the whole trip.

I guess RNGesus does love me.

That's not hard to justify, though. Whenever I drop in a ring in an inhabited system, I always meet at least one ship, sometimes a pirate, sometimes an NPC miner: whoever sees me can tip off a pirate friend (look, there's a ship around here, you might want to check it out when it leaves the ring), and there's your pirate chasing when you enter supercruise.

Not when I'm mining outside the bubble, where those pirates don't exist.

Random NPC pirates, I get, at the most, 1 every half dozen jumps - independent on what I'm carrying or whether i'm carrying anything at all. Mission related pirates are a different matter - but then again, that's a risk you get warned about before you accept these missions. Stacking missions with associated pirates makes it pretty much certain to be interdicted on every approach (while you have these missions open).

Then again, with the right ship and some combat skills, like others have already said, those pirates become a valuable source of manufactured mats and income (both from the mission bonus and their bounties). Until the time when I get too many Anacondas after me and none of the ports on my schedule offers restock.

To my point: when I am outside of the bubble there are no ships in the rings, nor pirates outside.
Yes, that's my point. There has been no one to see me, and they should have no idea what I have, and yet the instant I jump back into populated systems, they instantly know and have heard about me somehow.
