I just discovered a trick in the coaster editor that helped me out. It might already be common knowledge, but I didn't know it so I'm sharing
I've always been kind of disappointed in the limited angle you could make your drops on the track. It seemed that about 45 degrees was as steep as you could pull down on a track down hill. I knew though, it was still Alpha, and not even an officially supported feature so I was just going to wait.
Then I discovered that, after you build the track, you can mold it further by "pushing and pulling" on a completed coaster to tweak the track.
Then I realized you can GO BACK and edit your existing lift hill to be as steep as you want, (even inverted) even though it's limited during initial building. Just tug on it and pull it down, and then use the "smooth" tool to make it pretty. (This method usually makes for a pretty nasty looking track at first, but always looks nice after smoothing. Just get the rough angle you want first, and then use the Smooth button.)
Hope this helps someone make wicked drops on their coasters!
