Horizons *gets bounty on hed for shooting at bounty..*

So i was around diso grinding for some creds and ranks..feeling pretty good i took on a 3 imperial party (cause those guys are ALWAYS wanted)

sooo i take down 2 of them..then when i move on to the third one i started to scan him..scanned him halfway through i became impatient and started to fire on him. all of a sudden i got the whole police force that was attacking him started focusing on me..even though he was wanted. (The scan finished and it said "wanted" "mission target.")

i barely escaped with 8% hull. is this a bug or a thing that happens if i dont fully scan a ship?

(sorry no screenshots..cant find the button)

You learnt a valuable lesson in the world of ed, do not fire until you see the wanted tag on your scanner. It does not matter that here is a good chance he may be wanted, your ship had not identified him as such when you decided to shoot.

Yes. Until your scanner says "wanted" it was always a crime to attack them. There was a bug dating from around 1.3 that allowed you to shoot a wanted ship without penalty anyway but in the patch notes for Horizons/1.5 they said they'd fixed that.

Welcome to the wonderful world of FD logic. Don't bother trying to understand it, your common sense has no power here.

So it was a bug in 1.4? Feels way more like a bug now. There's no logical reason for this to happen... Especially since it mostly happens in situations like what was described in OP. More examples of frontier putting their weird vision ahead of logic or fun.

That's a pity, I thought they had fixed it to be sensible in 1.4, I really enjoyed being able to make a rational decision rather than wait for the permission of my computer to do so.
